Save this 72 big block Cheyenne Super Longhorn being parted!

I hope I don't offend anyone by posting this, but from the photos it seems like too nice and rare of a truck to part out! Someone in Washington state or west coast in general make an offer on the whole truck and save it!!!

If he parts it out then someone can fix one of those hobby trucks by converting it to a real truck! :-)

A big. Block 3/4 ton that can haul more than any other 67-72 short of a 1 ton is not a "real truck"?

Can you park a Mini Cooper in the bed? Then it's a real truck :-)

I'd trade my dog (well, maybe not) for a big block short bed Sierra Grande, but I have an appreciation for serious trucks as well. By "serious" I mean fullsize bed, truck mirrors, cab lights, and so on.

There's a lot to be said for the sport mirror, sport bumper, shortbed trucks but its not the epitome of style that everyone universally needs to shoot for.

For me, while I'd still like to have one, having a bucket-seat short-bed truck makes for a crappy sports car. So I'd rather have a real sports car and a real truck, and of course my definition of "real" is completely personal.

No such thing as "too nice" Good parts come from nice trucks. If nobody parted out nice trucks there wouldn't be anything good to buy.

I have to disagree. The only reason a nice truck should be parted where if there were issues with not having a title or something to that effect. That is my opinion.

So does that mean that when primo parts from nice trucks become available for sale due to "parting out"...you won't be buying them?

No, it means that if I had the truck I would not part it out. As a matter of fact I asked about some parts in the thread. I was just trying to let everyone know it was out there in case someone in the area wanted to make an offer on the whole truck.

No need to suggest ulterior motives or start an argument.

I am not starting an arguement...just trying to understand your line of thinking that's all.

Re: Save this 72 big block Cheyenne Super Longhorn being parted!

I recently bought a 70 custom 20 Longhorn with 78k miles to use parts off of to build a Swb truck but now I am having second thoughts.

When in doubt, just refer to this handy chart...

A while hack someone posted a thread wanting photos of 8 lug Swb trucks. This is as close to any real trucks like that that I have ever seen. IMO, A truck like that in real life would be the "worst" of both worlds, not the best. It would ride too rough!

I would not be "parting it out" in either case. I will either leave it a Longhorn and swap a 72 disc brake front crossmember under it, or swap the cab front clip engine and trans onto a Swb chassis with stepside bed. The only thing to "part" would be a 133" wheelbase 4 wheel drum chassis and an 8-1/2' bed.
