Re: speaker kickpanels
Not what you ask for but it may give you some ideas. Here is what the previous owner made for the doors in my 69. Wood and Fiberglass. I had to do away with the yellow.
Not a show truck but it gets the job done for daily driving

Re: speaker kickpanels
Not bad and very creative. They don't protrude too much to touch the seat? I agree about the yellow color too.

Re: speaker kickpanels
I bought a set of the kicker panel speakers from LMC and the fit is terrible. A lot of trimming. Not worth the $80+ anyway. I called custom audio sound about them and they told me that they never heard of anone having to trim them. That I don't believe.

Re: speaker kickpanels
On my current project, we eliminated the vents & I made "cans" to go over the vent holes & we'll be installing speakers in the vent holes. We decided that since the truck has AC, they wouldn't be missed.

Re: speaker kickpanels
I painted the wood on the rear side with rubberized undercoating to waterproof it. They work great and stay dry.

Re: speaker kickpanels
Wes had some gray ones made of some sort of plastic material hanging on the wall beside his counter the last time I was at his shop. He doesn't show them in the catalog but I don't think they are anywhere near bank breakers.
I intend to get a set for my truck if I ever put a decent radio in it. http://www.classicheartbeat.com/ Call him (free call) and ask about them. |

Re: speaker kickpanels
I know your trying to stay within a budget.... but for those of us that don't have the time or skill.
For between $75 & $145 (with speakers) these are the best looking in my opinion. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=3747440 |

Re: speaker kickpanels
Wish I had saw those before I purchased mine. The Custom Audiosound ones I have fit well around the vent on the passenger side, but on the drivers side the opening isn't large enough to let the vent swing. I will have to trim it. The passenger side one had to be trimmed as well in front of the vent. I called custom audiosound about it, there never heard of anyone having to trim them. I guess I must have a one-off cab.
