A$$ end Pictures

I am debating stamped vs non stamped tailgates, rear exit or axle dump exhaust, and which bumper to get (likely plain ole chrome repop), etc.

Post up your back end pictures, bonus points if it is dark-ish blue.

Re: A$$ end Pictures

I wish I had the Chevrolet imbossed tailgate. I was just trying to save a few $$ at the time. I like the looks of the sport bumper but I am seriously considering going back to the heavy duty bumper for protection from a rear end collision.

BTW Gotchamel you have a very nice rear end..

on your truck that is!

Re: A$$ end Pictures

The sport bumper looks nice on the 1/2 tons but not practical for a work truck nor does it offer any guard against an accident.

Re: A$$ end Pictures

Sport bumper for me for sure. Might do like my buddy for protection and always leave a receiver hitch in.

Hoodlum, is that the LMC gate? I have read tons about how flimsy awful they are, so I laid mine out and sto0d on it. It seemed sturdy enough...

I have no idea how you would have guessed it correctly, but yes, it is the LMC tailgate. I stand on mine all the time and even set heavy stuff on it when I am hauling stuff around.

Do stepsides count?

No letter gate on my 70 in BMW dark blue.

When I get to that point I'll have a sport bumper or maybe put the roll pan bck on.

If you look close you can see my tail pipes
I gotta vote for the stamped unless your going for the shaved look like AusTx68, which looks pretty cool too.

Here is my 68 LWB, not the best angle but best I had on the computer. Smooth tailgate with sport bumper. Exhaust dumps down in rear corners.

Do you have more paint sprayed yet? That is the color family I am looking for for mine.

Re: A$$ end Pictures

Here's mine now with a rear roll pan but I've decided to go back to a chrome bumper but I love my shaved tailgate. When I add the bumper I'll probably have the tips come out the side behind the rear tires.

It's my original tailgate. The original outer skin was sectioned out and a Mar-K skin was grafted in it's place. That's the best way to install a skin into an original tailgate. You get the strength and good looks

Re: A$$ end Pictures

The main problem with any of the aftermarket gates is they are thin weak JUNK and are for display only. If you are going to use the truck find an original. Now if your truck is going to be a display unit....I still prefer the letters painted on or imbossed.

Re: A$$ end Pictures

Fleet, but I still enjoy the shots of the steps. 68stepbed, what color is that, is there metal flake in it?

Also, all of you with non embossed gates, are they the Goodmark/LMC/etc repop gates? If so thoughts or opinions on them? I have an LMC ready to roll and an original that I think will take more work and skills than I possess.
