I think OK is where they sold most of those fleetsides with the trim . I've seen more there than anywhere else

It is on a 87 frame. Would like to lower a little and get everything rust free before paint. Has a 350 engine ad 350 transmission with headers but hoping to install a 5.3 and 4l60 E out of a newer truck and make it a serious everyday driver.

Very nice find. I found 1 for my 51 that was made into a trailer. Went to look at it and they had cut about 10 in off the rear. Why I don't know. Still looking.

Re: Look what I just lucked onto short fleetside with chrome

If you had this bed what would be the best way to go about getting it back as close to perfect as it can be? How is the trim attached and best way to remove without damaging it?

Re: Look what I just lucked onto short fleetside with chrome

The side trim is held on with clips that go through a hole. Just be very careful prying it off.

I am selling a full set of trim on ebay if anybody needs some.

Can you get to the clips from under the bed or where?

You can feel them under the wheel well and push them out.

That's awesome. my truck also has a 90s bed on it from the previous owner... I'd love to find a correct short stepside for mine

I thought you might like to know there is short bed fleetside for sale on Tulsa Oklahoma Craigslist the bed is pretty nice but the cab isn't much to look at 1500 for the truck but it has no chrome.

If you want a stepside bed I'd just buy a new one from Mar-Kay. You'd still have to buy new or used fenders for it but new style beds like you have are popular swaps for 67-72 Chevy trucks, so you might get a good price for it. I don't like those beds on older trucks but apparently lots of others do, as it's a common swap.
