Wish I was a Mechanic. Carb question?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. My question is this...
Will this - http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/...oductId=743633 make this - http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...erformer.shtml fit a stock intake manifold on an '81 C10, 350?

If you have the stock spread bore manifold you will need a adapter such as this; http://www.jegs.com/i/Trans+Dapt/969/2034/10002/-1

I sent this at the same time as restrorob. His suggestion will work too!

the edelbrock 2696 is a better piece. carbs work on vacuum signals, the transdapt open design can cause confusing signals to the carb and it'll act funny at certain points in the rpm and throttle opening.
i work at a family owned speed shop for 20 years and sold both products. we just stock the edelbrock part for this reason. |

So, I read on my edelbrock carb instruction sheet that you are not supossed to use the open adapters. Why is this? Does it create vaccume leaks? Will it hurt the carb?

It doesn't create vacuum leaks or hurt the carb, but it causes the vacuum signal, which is what the carb uses to meter fuel, to be erratic. So you get a carb that's difficult to tune for part throttle and around town driving. The spacers with the holes keep the air flowing smoothly which gives a better vacuum signal and helps part throttle response and tuning.

So I don't need the spacer, but the adapter instead...
