Rear End Swap Options

I've got a 1960 and am looking to swap the rear end and go with a 5 lug setup. Are there any direct swap options (width wise)? I would like to get one that I can use without having to have it shortened.

I believe 71-72 c10 rear is a direct bolt in has 5 on 5 bolt pattern I have done several with 73-87 c10 rear ends by just cutting off old mounting pads and using rear end mounting kit from cpp, they are about an inch and a half wider but I haven't had any clearance issues even with a 255 70 15 tire. also did one with a 70 impala 12 bolt and used 15 x8 rally wheels this rear end has 5 on 4.75 bolt pattern hope this helps. Heads up the 60-62 have the axle saddle mounts are at different locations then 63-72 and will require you to weld on new ones ( check with Capt Fab) on what ever axle you decide to go with.
You will also need to remove your old panhard (Trac rod) from your old axle and weld it on to your new one. Or you can get a new one from CPP but make sure you get one for the 60-62 models.
Make sure to replace your rear brake hose too.
I used a 1967 C10 rear end that my brother in law had swapped to five lug.He decided to go with rear disc.
So no it isn't a direct bolt on ,but other then the above mentioned mods it was not that hard hope this helps.
What are you doing for the front?

I'm running porterbuilt setups on front and rear. Disk conversion in front and all new brake lines, etc. Having to set up new mount locations on the axle isn't a problem. I just need one that is the same width so I don't have to shorten it. I already assumed I would have to make other adjustments to the rear end when setting up the suspension.

Is it possible to use one from a late 80s, early 90s model? Those seem a little easier to find.
