LS T56 Swap
I am thinking about installing a LS T56 in my 70 C10 with a SB 350.
As I am doing more research, it seems like there is lot of extra parts I will need. QuickTime has a bell housing but its pretty expensive, does any body know of any other bell housing available? Thanks. |

Re: LS T56 Swap
I'm putting an LT1 T56 in my Chevelle wagon right now, and am finding that it's requiring significant work on the floor boards and driveshaft tunnel. A high hump tunnel might be enough in the trucks, but you may find you need more work within the cab.
As for additional parts, you're going to need to verify the clutch, bell housing adapter and hydraulic release bearing setup you want to use. I'm cobbling together original parts such as all the pedals and linkage, with newer clutch master cylinder and reservoir. I found that the yoke from my old power glide works fine in the tailshaft of the T56, but the drive shaft will have to be cut. Not sure of the output splines of the newer T56, but it's another part to factor in. Also, you'll need to figure out how you're going to deal with the electronic speedo output. I'm probably going to run some aftermarket gauges and just go electronic in the Chevelle. It won't be cheap or easy, but what is on these things? Good luck!

Re: LS T56 Swap
Thanks for the input.
1. Can I use the stock bellhousing from the T56, as long as I buy the spacer? 2. Will the factory clutch from the LS1 Camaro T56 work with the SB350? Thanks, |

Re: LS T56 Swap
I am wanting to do this swap from my th350 now. Research leads me different places and mostly old threads.
I have an LS1 t56 I read one place I can use the adapter then use the stock mech linkage, and bell/clutch/throwout from a muncie. No idea what flywheel to use or if I can use the starter I already have. But I can't find the link now Anyone have some input? Im not afraid of going Hydraulic if I can but Im not dropping $600 on bell alone if I can help it. My budget is right around $500. What I got so far Adapter: http://www.thegearbox.org/catalog/it...17/4803441.htm Pilot Bushing: http://www.thegearbox.org/catalog/it...17/6239106.htm Clutch kit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/zz...5-1a/overview/ I was looking at this flywheel...http://www.hurst-drivelines.com/?pro...2-pc-rear-seal I was going to find a 70 with a manual and swipe the mech linkage and pedal.... thanks.
