tire size question

I cannot recall what size tire my truck came with from the factory. If I went out and looked at the glove box decal I could find out.
My question is how that relates to modern tire descriptions. I wonder what diameter or circumference of a current tire is equl to the original size.
Anyone out there know of a chart somewhere that will tell you the answer?

Most tire stores have a "Tire Size Guide" book to tell you tire size.
I will try and research sizes to answer your question.

my problem is I have no idea what to start with... the plate on the glove box door is painted over...3 or 4 times...what size tire was common in 71 on a 6 banger 3 speed vanilla truck? it has a 4.10 rear end, not sure if that was original though. I know it has the wrong gear in the tranny cause my speedo is on crack 99% of the time...I'm running 235/75-15's on it now and it's still off
