Mismatched helper springs
I've been wondering about the helper springs on my 65 Custom Camper, drivers side has 5 leafs & passenger side only 3 leafs? I'm the 3rd owner and to the best of my knowledge they were dealer installed. Anyone seen this before? I'm thinking it is a dealer screw up, but maybe there is some graduated loading theory as this did come with a rather large slide in camper and posi rearend? (sorry right side pic is blurry but you can still see difference)

Re: Mismatched helper springs
That may have been purposeful to account for an auxilliary gas tank on one side, or perhaps the spare was on that side along with a driver most of the time. If it came with a full camper, that may have had the stove, refrigerator, or shower all piled on one side and this was done to level the truck. I've seen "spring stagger" before but it was on drag racing cars back in the 60's to modify the launch characteristics.

Re: Mismatched helper springs
I have aux springs on my '63 GMC 910,they are equal at 3 per side.
Also noticed yours has a different thickness of leaf on one side than the other. Yeah, that is strange T
