troubleshooting drivetrain shudder
68 C-20
292 straight 6 3 speed standard The truck will shudder when coming from a dead stop, but ONLY when she is HOT. Sometimes a little, sometimes ALOT. The clutch is a fairly recent replacement, the rear wheel bearings are not that old, the U-joints and center support seem OK -- I'm stumped! Any ideas where to look? Thanks in advance! |

Re: troubleshooting drivetrain shudder
Did you surface the flywheel when the clutch was put in?

Re: troubleshooting drivetrain shudder
I will have to look at the service records regarding the flywheel-- The head gasket is leaking onto the bell housing -- I'm thinking this is the problem, but why only when hot? -- Thoughts anyone ?

Re: troubleshooting drivetrain shudder
Sorry -- I meant the valve cover gasket -- oil getting onto the bell housing -- could be making it's way onto the clutch and flywheel?

Re: troubleshooting drivetrain shudder
Well, she needs a complete engine overhaul anyway, so it seems a clutch will be part of the plan -- thanks for your advice -- B.
