I have bad gas..
I dropped the tank out of my burb yesterday and it's half-full of gas from the '70s. Any suggestions on how to dispose of it?

Check with a local oil distributor. Also, check with your City. Many, like mine, have a waste disposal center that accepts all sorts of waste so that citizens don't end up pouring them down the drain or putting them in the landfill.

Re: I have bad gas..
pour it on the ant mounds in the yard. It's the original ant killer.

Re: I have bad gas..
Dear God I hope you don't have regs like we do in San Diego!!!!
I called the deposal place about this. I would have to bring it in containers that I HAD to leave. They do not dump it out into something else. So I told the guy that "you want me to leave the container so I would have to buy CARB approved gas containers as if I put them into some cheap 5 gallon buckets, I could be fined for transporting gas in an unapproved container. CARB cans are like $10 each. It was going to take 3 cans to transport all the fuel. I basically told them this is the exact reason for people to illegally dump this stuff. It didn't seem to sink in so I was done with them. Since my fuel wasn't more than a year old, I found a friend who would run it in his older vehicles (I had none at that time, unlike now). Gave it to him. CA government is completely useless!!! and don't even get me started on CARB!!!!

Re: I have bad gas..
pretty funny how they 'regulate' and make it so difficult for us when all their gonna do is let it evap into the air also - i'd do the same and also agree id keep a gallon or so for parts cleaner

Re: I have bad gas..
I stick a gallon at a time in my daily driver-I run it thru a coffee filter first to get out the chunks.

Re: I have bad gas..
Great idea on keeping some for solvent! done and done. Any boardies around Bakersfield need a gallon or two for same? We could help each other.
The tank is concave on the bottom so it's junk anyway and I have a clean replacement. I reckon it's already a CARB approved container except for the duct tape that's over the holes. You're on the money chevy_mike. Same mentality they apply to gun laws.. Excessive regulation doesn't deter criminals, it only creates more. I don't think Korn County regs are as tight as Sandy Eggo, our storm drains don't lead to the ocean. Not brave enough to run it in my daily. I was told this truck was parked in the early 70s so there's a chance it could be leaded. I don't remember what year they changed it. I'll check with the city. Thanks guys.
