Cowl Hood Question

Where is the best place to purchase a fiberglass cowl hood for my '86? I want about a 2" scoop. Is there any drawbacks when using fiberglass vs. Steel?

I have a Harwood cowl hood on my 84 and I would say that it has one of the best fitments that I have seen on an aftermarket hood. I have had the hood on the truck since 1996 and it is still fitting good and is solid (no seperation issues). The lighter weight is also a plus. I did have to trim it some to fit the edges to the truck, also had to trim the cowl hood edge so that there was plenty of clearance around the wipers. It is necessary for the company to sell it this way because no vehicle sets the same. If you work slowly and carefully it will fit right and set good.

Here are a couple of sites I came up with on a search.

http://www.gmcpauls.com/cowl_hoods.htm
http://www.trendesignautosports.com/...oods_GMC_T.htm
http://www.eastcoastcustoms.com/
http://www.sporttruckdirect.com/Refl...owl_Hoods.html

No. Don't.

Unless they have dramatically changed in the last few years, their products have a horrible reputation for being uneven and bad fittment.

I bought this one off ebay for $396. That was total price shipped to my work. Other than it being dirty it looks good. I just bolted it on and I think it fit prety well.

Don't spend your money on an Unlimited hood either. I had one..."had" being the key word here.
