I re-used what was under my original tank. After cleaning it thoroughly, it looked like new. I had thought about using cut up inner tubes, from a bicycle, if they hadn't been good. LMC sells a "gas tank anti squeak kit", pg 123 item 6 on the bottom of the page. It's 6.95.
The Truck Shop sells a "Gas Tank Mounting Cushion Set" for $11 on page 107 of their catalog, but it says its for 60 -66 and has four extra pieces. Looks like it might work but not sure.

I used weather stripping made for the bottom of a garage door. It is easy to find, looks and works well.
