C-30 power steering to K-10????? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a donor truck a 1969 C-30 custom with power everything but unfortunatly the frame is bent and the body is shot! so I am converting my 69 K-10 to as many power options as possible and my question is will the power steering off the c-30 work? I have tried to research this with no luck. I know about dimpling the frame, but not much else. I can make it work with little issues I just need to know if it is at all possible.

I don't know what the differance is, but I do know that it will not work.

The difference will be in the position of the pitman arm. The 2wd box will steer side to side when mounted on the truck. And the 4wd box will steer front to back because of the drag link. Hope this helps. Jason

The pitman arms are quite a bit different looking..if your going with a crazy 8 inch lift or something you can use the 2wd lift for a cross over steering system on your 4x4.

hey ROD I am not understanding what you are saying, can someone explain please? can I just use the 2wd gear box and the 4wd pitman arm?

ROD, is talking about cross over steering. Which is something alot of your 4x4 guys with alot of lift use to prevent the truck from wandering down the road with the big lift and big tires. Like Rod said that's something you can use if you have at least a 6" lift or more. If not you can use your power steering pump, hoses, and brackets. But you will need to get a 4x4 steering box. It can come from a 68 - 79. I'm not positive on 79 because right around there they changed to O-Ring fittings on the hoses compared to the flare fittings you have. The best choice would be 68 - 72 because I here there's some difference with the pitman arm and how it hooks to the drag link. I'll check that on the ones I have and see if there is a difference. Here's a few pic's of mine. I have a few rolling frames so you can really see the difference. The first 2 are of my 68 frame with manuel steering. The second 2 are of a 78 frame with power steering. And the third is my 72 with power steering, it has the body on it so I couldn't get a good pic. Jason
