Rear End Options
Hey everyone,
New So Cal resident to the board! Realizing that 67-72 rear ends are compatible and bolt right up. What other rear ends have some of you guys used and or are just as compatible. And what kind of modifications were done to get them to work. Just looking for a switch to my 8-lug 3/4 ton. |

Re: Rear End Options
Are you wanting to stay with 8 lugs?

Re: Rear End Options
Welcome bro, from NorCal....
I am building a '67 3/4 ton for one of my customers. We are using a 14bolt axle from a new truck.....Worked out perfect, and everything is available for that rear-end. Not much, if anything at all is available for the stock one. You can check out the build by clicking the second link in my signature. Later

G-bodys have upper and lower trailing arms....they do not have the same trailing arm mounts as the Chevy nor spring pads as the GMC's.

Re: Rear End Options
In that case you can choose from rears from '71-'87 1/2 ton trucks. They will be 1 1/2" wider than the '63-'70 rears and the '73-'87's have leaf spring pads that would need cut off and the trailing arm pads welded on for your '66. I'm assuming you have a '66 by your user name.
Impala's and Caprices have the 5 x 5" bolt pattern, but I don't have a clue how wide they are compared to a pickup rear end.
