What would you do - Trade a LWB beater for a rusty Blazer?
So I found a guy somewhat near me who is looking to trade a 72 Blazer with rust for a 72 LWB C/20 with rust...
My truck has rust on the floors, cab supports and the rockers...poorly done work by one of the POs along the way...it has a 350/350 and runs great - just use it to haul brush and parts every now and again...I didn't pay much for it - but it works great for what I use it for. It does not have A/C or a tach at the present time. The Blazer is a CST with A/C, tach, front bumper guards, tilt (I think), and has (allegedly) a rebuilt motor in it. The windshield frame is toast, but for what I use the beater for - it wouldn't be that big of a problem for me...waiting to hear about the rocker support boxes. It would be nice to have a 4x4 to use in the winter here...but at the expense of more rusting on it... Nothing is set in stone - Blazer pix are attached...pix of the beater coming in the next post... I have inquired to another board member to see if he can check it out for me when he has a moment - he lives closer than I do...waiting to hear back about it. Curious to hear your comments... |

Looks like a tilt to me, all tilt columns are black and that blazer seems pretty well optioned so it wouldn't surprise me. I say go for it. You can never have too many blazers. If you don't know how to do body work, this one would be good practice.

Blazer is better than a truck all day long! It has the hickey roof rack on it too! BTW is it a single walled top?? I'd do it, but part the Blazer as rust is a scary thing here in AZ! The tach, tilt, etc, etc is worth while though for sure!!

I say "Trade"...but I'm a Blazer guy.
And like already stated above, there are more lwb trucks out there than Blazers, especially with those options.

I'd trade for the goodies. As long as it runs as well as your truck I dont see how you can go wrong.

Yeah, go for it! I just received those pictures the other day by e-mail. I live in Marysville, OH which is about 40 minutes from where this is at. The inside bed floor and stuff looked pretty solid in the pictures. Like everyone said, you can find a LWB truck anytime. Looks like most of the parts are still on this one. Good luck!

Looks like I will be moving forward with a trade - I will have to wait until after the holidays to do the swap though...(time and weather).
I may have to travel down there to see it first hand - my GF has family right around it - so we can plan a trip...and I can go play hooky for a bit and have a look see. I will keep you all posted. Thanks for the opinions guys. Have a good holiday season! |

Re: What would you do - Trade a LWB beater for a rusty Blazer?
Update - went and checked it out this weekend and got some more pix...
Windshield frame is definitely gone...I forgot to get a picture of it. Comes with: Stock 6 lug rally wheels (no tires) Swing Away Tire Carrier that was removed Stock 350 that was pulled due to leaking oil - including A/C compressor and bracketry Positives: Tilt Tach A/C Buckets CST Package Chrome 205 stick Uncut Dash 4x4 works well (we tested it on his property and the neighboring railroad tracks) SPID label intact and lists all the correct options Skid Plate Support Boxes were solid - which makes me wonder about the doors sticking Negatives: Brakes were weak - I said I need them working to trade - since mine work Rusty Floors Rusty Rockers Rusty Windshield Frame Doors Stick when opening/closing Single Wall Top Hatch is crap - top side window was broken Tailgate is rusted through Here are the pix - there will be a few posts... Anybody have any more questions I should ask or do you see anything else I should look into on the Blazer? It is 75% confirmed that I will be trading - just need him to fix the brakes so I can drive it once it is in Toledo. He will be coming up to Toledo to check out my C20 and we will go from there. The trade won't occur until Spring though - he drives the Blazer up to me and then drives the 3/4 ton home. That is the tentative plan as of today. |

Re: What would you do - Trade a LWB beater for a rusty Blazer?
I'd say trade for sure, the blazer rust isn' that bad except for the windshield frame. That would be the only bad part I see. The lower rust in rockers and floorboards and lower front part of rear quarters would be easy to fix up. With the rockers boxes being as good of shape as they are, its weird the windshield frame rusted so bad. TRADE!!!!!!!!!!! I just looked again, I'm not sure if those are the original buckets, they look like 73-80 high back buckets.
