Re: Lets see some pics of those stock flatbeds

I am not real sure, but I don't think trucks came from the factory with flat beds. I think they were added at the dealer or other places.

Here are a few pictures I have saved along the way, of course none of them are mine.

The maroon one is actually a homemade wood flatbed, the guy did a build thread on it several months ago.

The second and the fifth trucks in the first post are factory flatbeds. That maroon truck had it listed on the SPID. All the wood was replaced along with some mods, but that's a factory flatbed. They can be identified by the two rib stock that is rounded at the corners. These trucks came with the standard GM tail and reverse lamps as used on Stepsides,StepVans, flatbeds,as well as cab & chassis trucks. The same design beds go back to the '50s,at least.
I wouldn't change a thing on that all original '67 Napco. That is a rarer truck than any CST. Sometimes base model just screams "Cool!" and this one does for sure. I'm glad Sakontr is treating it as it should be. Dig that GM brush guard!

Re: Lets see some pics of those stock flatbeds

don't have any pics of it but my daad brought home a 69 chevy C-30 flatbed that was in parts when i was abought 8 yo and we put her back on the road thats when i got the old truck bug we used it as a work horse and me and my sisters learned to drive in it. the Iowa winters finaly got to it about 5 years ago (cross members in the frame rotted out) and dad sent it to a junk yard now i own three old trucks

Re: Lets see some pics of those stock flatbeds

It ain't pretty, but here is my 1970 GMC 1 ton flat bed. Picked it up for $750.00 minus the engine. Unfortunately, it was also minus the VIN tag (didn't realize that until I got it home). So, it just sees yard duty until I can find another 67-72 1 ton VIN tag and matching title. That was a lesson learned the hard way!

Re: Lets see some pics of those stock flatbeds

Dang Terry,I wish I could swing that right now.

Another thing about factory flatbeds...the 68-72s used the same lenses for the rear side markers as pickups. They used a sheetmetal box made for the lense to fit and it fastened to the bottom of the side rail. I still have a pair I ordered to use on a utility bed but never used.
