Frame swap? May need 2wd frame
Since I have bought some blazers and they are all 4wd, I would like to know if any frames will work to easily convert to 2wd. I have a 66 shortbed 1/2 2wd frame, will that work? If I have to use a 2wd blazer frame, does anyone have one for sale.

the 4X4 frame is an easy swap, all you need is the 2wd crossmember from a 67-80's truck and it more or less bolts on (of course you need to drill some holes and it bolts up). The frames are almost identical on 2wd and 4wd's. good luck and have fun, and I am sure there alot more guys that can chime in and offer more specific details.

if you don't want to keep the leaf springs in the back converting to trailing arms isn't too hard. there are two holes in the frame that will allow you to mock everything up so you can drill holes and mount everything.

Wow, I thought there was a big difference in the frames. I have everything I need if it is that easy. I have a crossmember from an 80 chevy with disc brakes and plenty of spare rear end parts to convert to trailing arms. Any more info would be great, maybe some pics. Thanks

well the frames are differant. once everthing is in place, the location of the coil spring on the trailing arm is pretty close on the frame. the 2wd frames flare out a bit around the rear end where the leaf spring frames are straight. i'm gonna mount bags on the trailing arms so i can be liberal on the placement(within reason) i will be snapping up pics this weekend and posting them. i have had a few people asking for a while so i'm hoping i can come through this weekend.

here's some pics
the crossmember bolted in. you can see where the transfer case xmember was just in front the red arrow is the only hole already in the frame. the yellow line would be the centerline for the spring the brackets i will be using for the bag setup the weels are centered in the wheelwell, the previous owner had 35" tires and trimmed the fenderlip for clearance.
