Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

Some of you will remember i picked this up awhile back. Well i got the tank drained, run some new temp. gas line, new gas, checked fluids etc... I actually drove it around some. About 2 miles any how. Seems to run pretty good with all the bad gas out of its system. The turbo 400 feels tight. We got into the 30s here today so it was an outside day. I even did a little cleaning on it. Enjoy.
Diggin the interior. Date on the camper is 3-72. Enough said??

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

It isn't hardly big enough inside to get any good pics in there. It will need some interior work. Check out the window stickers. Probably the original windshield i am guessing. Last pic is of the exhaust emmisions on the windshield. Looks like a GM tag for calif. emmisions i am guessing...

That thing is very nice. Do you plan to use it?
You don't see too many with true truck buckets either.

Now that i know it runs and drives ok we may try to get the title worked out. (husband died, bought it from the wife, title is lost, blah blah) So yes, i think we may use it some. Funny part with the bucket seats is it also has a center console where the walk through is...

I had one with regular truck buckets, had the holes where the console used to be, but I think they removed it to get into the camper. The holes even went thru the carpet. I thought it might be in one of the compartments in the back, but never found it

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

I think it would be fun to have one of those for my Bonneville Speed Week trips. I almost pulled the trigger on one last year, but logistics just didn't work out.

If work doesn't pick up this year I may end up walking to Speed Week LOL.

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

That rig is really cool! I have wanted a 71-72 motorhome for a long time. The only problem is my wife won't let me have one. I really hope you keep it and enjoy it. I see too many perfectly good motorhomes on here get bought by board members simply so they can be parted out.

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

Thanks for all the compliments.
Tim, this thing has really grown on me since i got it.
Cousin eddie... i can see it.
cameo, at this point, no plans to part it unless there are difficulties with the title. It looks like it spent some time around an air force base in cali. That would explain the worst rust being higher.

I think there is supposed to be a delete there, but i assume it got lost during a repaint at some point.
Oldblue1968, yes it has the pass through which doesn't make sense with a console.

Glad you guys enjoy the pics...

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

One thing I've noticed over the 6 months since I acquired my 72 is how much of a presence Chevy had in the camping scene. It's even highlighted in the brochures for that year. My own pickup had the big mirrors, and I suspect the reason the bead is in such good shape is it had a camper in it most of its life.

Nice piece of history you have there.

The pass through is so the cook can pass you lunch when rolling down the road.

There is one of those here close to me that has sat in the same spot out in the open for at least the past 30 years. I'd imagine that it is too far gone to be usable now.

Now why? Just why, do these people let them sit and rot? You ask if they will sell. "Nope it's my retirement project", dude your 90, let it go! Dang that bugs me! There are a lot of good cars and trucks rotting. A shame....

That interior is CLEAN man that is nice!!!
