Lake Tahoe Road Trip
We made our Fall run to Tahoe with little or no problems except my Brakes going out on my 2004 2500HD Silverado. Cant believe they only lasted 80,000 miles. Actually I got on them a little to much and warped a rotor (OOPPS). We limped home on them and I have a story to tell about the trip home with the bad brakes. I had been driving about 7 Hours and was getting a little tired and had my Wife take over the wheel. About that time we were on a road called Highway 66 in Southern Oregon. Not more than about 10 miles had gone by when we hit a huge downhill with the bad brakes and my Wife driving. Needless to say she wanted to kill me and I was white knuckling the OH **** handle all the way down that hill. It was one of the most narrow, winedy, no gard rail having downhills I think I have ever seen. My Wife stuk the truck in 2nd and let the motor slow us down the hill and was real easy on the brakes. When we got to the bottom without going over the side I told her I was proud of her and then let out a big sigh of relief. Nothing Like getting the blood pumping. What a cool trip that turned out to be. We experienced Sleet, Snow, Rain, Sunshine and Hail. Im glad I put a new set of tires on the truck before we left for the trip. We drove down and saw a lot of Beautiful Country. We even got to see the Coconee Salmon Spawning in a small river off Lake Tahoe. I am going to post a few pictures of the trip. I know I didn't drive the 64 Chevy but that trip is still to come as soon as we finish it. We slummed it this time in the 2004 2500HD.

Re: Lake Tahoe Road Trip
Did you visit the Vikingsholm Castle? Your last pic looks like it was taken overlooking Emerald Bay.
Too bad the Ponderosa is closed now. I love Lake Tahoe, vacationed there many times.

Re: Lake Tahoe Road Trip
Thanks for sharing. I went to Reno this year. We managed to sneak away for a day and go to Lake Tahoe. Breath taking is an understatement.
