Engine and Trans combo upgrade?

What is the best late model engine and trans upgrade for my 86 GMC S.C. I have read alot on here about this and everyone seems to be different. I also don't know alot about the later model injection motors. I read on the S&P website about installing a LT4 out of a Vette would basically a bolt in except for the electrical and trans. I need to here some opinions, maybe some advice.

Re: Engine and Trans combo upgrade?

Forget the LT1. Pain in the ass, you'll make as much power with a similar Vortec combo.
Snag a 4-bolt main hydraulic roller block, stroke it, add Vortec heads with basic bowl work and good springs, cam in the 22x - 23X range and some long tube headers.
Buy stock in your favorite tire company.
