Carb'd LT1
I am having a problem and thought someone here could help me out. The 350 in my 70 burb just shot craps and I really don't have the scratch to run out and buy a crate motor. I have a 95 LT1 and 4l60 in the garage that are ready to run but again don't have the cash to retrofit the burb's fuel system and wiring to EFI.
I know that GMPP has an itake that will allow me to carb the motor. I have the HEI. I can get the block off plate once the optispark is removed. What else would be necessary for the swap in terms of thermostat and 4l60 transmission. I am really not looking to start a debate about the wonders of fuel injection related to carburation. The 4th gen and LS-1 computer nerds have killed every informative thread on the net thats been started on this subject. So any solid information would be appreciated Thanks Mike

I have a LT1, but I am going to use the fuel injection. I purchased a book on LT1's and LT4's and in the book they rebuild an LT1 and put the carbureter on the book is

Thats sounds like what I'm looking for. Thanks. if anybody has done it or researched I'd really be interested in anything to watch out for or avoid.

I've been considering a similar (carb'd LS1) powertrain setup. Nice thing about going with the carb is that you don't have to worry about modifying your fuel system for the high fuel pressure requirements of the fuel injection system.

You can put a HEI in a LT1/LS1? I hate Fuel injection. Some of the older TBI's are good. And some of the newer Japanese "feel right". But I drive new and newer Fords all day long, and once you're aware of what they're doing you can "feel it". You push on the accl. pedal and you have to wait for the computer to speed up the engine. Maybe not that noticeble driving around town or on the highway. But manuvering around a shop and on racks, and trying to do 16 oil changes a day to make your 8 hours, you notice.

Thanks for the input. Seems like the F.I. guys are worse than the anti abortion league when you start talking about carburating LT and LS motors.
