swap the guts, lowest you can go would be 3.73 probably since you have a 4 series carrier. what motor trans and tire size you running?

Re: rearend info please
17's unfortunately isnt what I was asking, how tall are the tires? 28" or? what size/brand tire you running? you can look up the size at tire rack .com.
I think that is pretty standard for these old farm trucks, still 3.73:1 is the lowest you can go I believe.

Re: rearend info please
I would be carefull selecting a tall gear when running a 250 I6. They don't have enough torque to efficiently pull a tall gear. Of course this all depends on your overall tire diameter as Clyde65 mentioned. I would maybe go to a 3.42 gear, but you will need at the least a 3 series carrier, in addition to the gears, bearings, etc. However setting up a set of differential gears is not an easy job. You first might try finding a complete rear differential. A 12 bolt from a '64-'72 truck will pretty much be a bolt in. If you go with a '73-'87 differential, some cutting and welding will be necessary. Of course this is assuming you have a trailing arm and coil spring rear suspension.
