If I had the money I would probably build about 10 67-72s, but the first would be a GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 with 1 ton axles and transfer case, a Caddy 500 big block, a TH475 tranny, and about 35 inch tires

My dream '67-'72:
Take Rick's pickup, convert it to a GMC, put a 4L80E in it, put red taillights back on it, and drop some of the exterior trim...along with Torq-Thrust rims...and change the shade of blue a bit... Hmm...now that I think about it, I want Rick's truck with my truck's body and a 4L80E. Muahaha. =) Of course, I'd ideally have a second one as well; that one as my daily driver / street cruiser and then a GMC Jimmy with the '69/'70 grille, disc brakes, a nice lift, same blue color (hehe), a 383 Vortec, and a THM400. Fun off road but I loathe the idea of driving something like that around town. Then, despite the fact that it's not a '67-'72 GM truck, the third vehicle in my fleet would be my track-day-special, a '67-'73 Camaro (any first gen or an early second) with a twin turbo fuel injected 302 LS6 and the IRS / 6 speed transaxle yanked from a Corvette. ------------------ Project 1970 - soon to be seen at http://milhouse.treylis.org:81/

I happen to like the way this one looks, can't remember where i got the picture though:
umm, vortech supercharged 383 (~570hp), 700R4, 3.73 rear, 4-wheel wilwood discs, air ride of course, custom interior (fiberglass center console constructed by yours truly, bucket seats of some sort), blazer doors (for the absence of the pillar, 18" wheels in front, 20" wheels in back, umm i guess that's about it. Still debating on stepside or fleetside though. My dream changes every time I get interested in another truck though!! ------------------ - Adam L. Vogel I go to Raymond Walters (University of Cincinnati) Hope to own a truck soon! Jim Aust's Circus Wagon is my inspiration. |

Well, it would be my truck with:
Frame off restoration Repainted original Ochre color, 2-tone with the white stripe and top, clearcoat paint Lowered 4" front 5" rear Built 383 SBC with allumium heads, and a supercharger (the kind that sits off to the side of the engine so i dont have to cut a hole in the hood), nitrous also for about 600 HP 4L80E OD tranny, also built to handle the power 18" American Racing Torq-Thrust Wheels Then i would have a stock body truck, but lowered, with cool wheels, and 600 ponies under the hood ------------------ Lucas drop_shift@hotmail.com My Daily-Driver: '72 Chevy LWB Custom/10. Rebuilt 350, 300 HP thanks to a few go-fast goodies. Ochre with a white top. Future plans include a frame off restoration, and maybe a blown 383.

Since you said money was no object. I always thought it would be cool to have my 71 stepside completely done and have a 71 2WD Blazer and a 71 Shortbed Fleetside that all matched. Meaning same color, features, etc. That would be a rolling car show in itself!
The flipside of the coin would be to find a 71-72 3/4 ton 4WD Long bed that was perfect. My goal for my 40th birthday (other than having my truck finished) is to find a cherry 69 Z-28 Convertible. SS would be fine, but the plus here is that the wife wants this car as bad as I do..... ------------------ 2001 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab Duramax, Allison, 4WD, Love it 1971 Chevrolet 1/2 ton 2WD Short/Step Side. Well, while I'm dreaming, tubular aluminum space frame, extreamly light, ridgid and strong. custom designed 4 wheel independant suspension with air ride, rack and pinnion steering, all aluminum 427 bb, set well back quad overhead cams, twin turbos, tricked out fuel injection, around 800 hp, stainless steel headers and exhaust, dual 3", 5 speed lenco tranny, or a 6 speed, 4 wheel disks, 17" cragar ss wheels, complete glass body, total weight of truck 2500 lbs, close to 50/50 weight dist. rad, bat, everything mounted in back, ram air takes place of rad in front. 67 style body, slightly smoothed, not extreme, orig side trim, beautiful bright red with white top, unscratchable paint, classic looking. still with crome bumpers. Cream leather interior, a good stereo, a/t/c, power everything, top quality, premium, sounds, looks, feels and works nice. Handles like a formula one car, rides like a caddy, completely driveable, 200mph, 0-60 in 3.5 sec, pulls over 1 g in accel, and cornering, perfect.

Bone stock-68 Short Wide, red with white top or 50th colors, full chrome, Factory 293 or 307 with an OD three-speed column tranny. (327 and 396 could not be had with OD I think.)
CST, factory tach, speed warn, AC, buckets and full wheel covers would be all nice too. Another great find would be a 68 3/4 ton Longhorn 50th loaded. I would turn my truck into a 1 ton extended cab dually, lift it up a little, and put some clearance lights on it.
Cant get webshots to work anymore so here is a link to a truck similar to what mine would be like. http://community.webshots.com/script...ity=lRSENLFVoq ------------------ 1972 Chevrolet C/20 LWB, BB 402, Tach, Bedside Toolbox, Posi, Factory AC, Factory AM/FM [This message has been edited by bgbchevy (edited March 25, 2002).]

I am considering some changes for my 2wd Jimmy. Probably just dreaming about it though. It's already bagged and on 20's so that is covered. It is a 71 and I would like a 67-68 hood. It would have an LS-1 and 4L60e and the fire wall would be cleaned up a bit (the firewall is going to happen). Upgrade the brakes a bit. Put the corvette sytle door handles on it and do something about the gas filler neck. The big changes are in the top though. I would graft the rear portion of a surburban top onto it. It would get about a 1.5 to 2 inch chop by laying the windshield post back and the crown in the top would be sectioned a bit. One piece glass in the doors, it would work since the doors would now be from a surburban. Leather interior and a nice but invisible stereo system. Isn't funny how un-trucklike a lot of our dream vehicles are.
Alvin I have personally laid my eyes on the truck you pictured and it is even nicer looking in person. The green and white on it was an awesome color combo.

My dream pickup has been a dream since I was about 7 years old. My dad has a 67 3/4 ton 4X4, the first vehicle I ever drove. I fell in love with it and drove it alot when I was growing up on the farm, This poor old truck hasn't had a current liscense plate since 1983 and hasn't seen pavement in about as long. I almost cried when he put a feedwagon box on it and I laughed when the box fell apart. Now it sits on the hill, collecting dust, rust and anything else that my bump into it. I've been trying to buy this thing since I was 15, no luck yet. I'm gonna make a deal with him to let me overhaul the engine in return for him giving me the truck when he doesn't need it anymore(inheritance, you might say). The body is anything but straight, except for the hood and the top of the cab, the interior is very nice, though, seat isn't even ripped. Mark my words, someday I will own that pickup!!!!

So far no one truck would fullfill my dream.
It would take about 12-15 trucks. Including a few burbs k/5s and 4x4's.
