What did you get done this weekend?

Well, I'm pretty sure Ken's on vacation, so I'll post this...

I finally got my 1980 Indy Hauler running on Friday. That was the culmination of the worlds longest engine swap. I took out the original 350/TH350C and replaced them with a Goodwrench 350 and TH700R4. I used an Edelbrock Performer intake and a Summit rebuilt Quadrajet. I also used Summit ceramic coated headers and a Dynomax dual exhaust system. I've been working on this on and off for a few months now so it's good to move on to something else.

Next will be the front suspension on that truck and today I picked up a sway bar for it since it didn't have one originally.

So what did you all get done, show pics if ya got em...

Fixed the broken pivot bolt for the driver side window. It won't break again. Fixed a problem with stereo amp. Music is just not the same with dual 12" thumpers.
Fixed the electrical constant signal problem. Turns out I replaced a burned bulb with an incorrect size bulb which duplicated the problem. Replaced the bulb again this time with the correct one and problem was solved. Threw away a few bulbs that were the incorrect size for any lighton my truck. My truck is back on the road after being parked over a week.

I hooked up a 3 air powered horns and a new deck. When I hooked up the deck, There were 2 brown wires and apprently I hooked up the wrong one as my parking lights flash to the music now. haha I had a good laugh at myself...

Got the interior yanked out and herculined the floor of the K5, also went and picked up my new tires.

I did almost nothing. I connected two trans cooler lines on the Blazer, and stayed in the house sick for most of teh weekend.

Tore down the driver door to get ready for new door panels. Put mirror from my wifes 98 on to replace tired stock mirror.

put in a new Alt. and trans mount. Looked at my dragging brakes and decided i must have stuck calipers. i also started on my crossover filler neck. All in preperation for a one day trip to North Eastern NM.

Got tired of antifreeze in my floorboard so I replaced the heater core in my 76. Also had the A/C checked out 'cause it wasn't cooling good enough. There is apparently a leak somewhere. I just had the A/C redone 2 months ago (new compressor, drier, evaporator core, etc), so I took it back to the shop that did the work. They couldn't tell where the leak was so they vac'd it out, re-charged it and added some dye. I've got to take it back to him later this week to let him find the leak.

I went junkyarding on Thursday, went to the "Back to the 50's" show on Friday...got sun burnt too, installed my headliner, watched NASCAR, and visited by Grandfather on Sunday (Fathers Day).

how hard was it to repalce the trans mount? i've been wanting to get a poly one, but havent yet.

10 minute job.

1. Remove the old trans mount bolts (from the trans and x-member).
2. Jack up the trans slightly (enough to slide out the old mount).
3. Instal the new one.

Well, I decided to find out why the underside of my pickup had what appeard to be gear lube all over after a highway trip. Found the differential seal on the front axle was leaking. Tore that off to find water in there. (LOTS of water) which is disturbing because I know I haven't went through any water with it since I have had it. (bought it in April of last year) So I clean and inspect the dif. All looks good so I put the cover back on and fill with clean (water free) lube. I then decide to check the transfer case for water. Thankfully, no water in there. I then decide that I better check the rear just in case. I pull the cover on that one to find that someone cracked the cover earlier and put this tar crap all over it to seal it back up. Good thing though, no water! But while I am back there I realize that I have a U-Joint that is going out. (grabbed the driveshaft to pull myself out from under the pickup and felt it move) So I buy a new one and crawl back underneath to find that the U-joint is, indeed, worn but so is the yoke that goes to the pinion shaft so I tear that off as well. I will be fixing all of this tonight when I get home. I also fixed my horn and my dome light.

On my way into town one time (I was driving my 69 Cutlass since it was nice) I feel something kind of like a grinding. Get home and leave the Cutlass outside while I work on the pickup. I come out to find what appears to be gear lube on the passenger rear tire. Check it out and I have a bad seal and bearing on that side so that will be my next project once the pickup is out of the garage!

It never ends.......

slightly nothing, i had to jack the trans up until it hit the bottom of the cab to get the OLD colapsed mount out. The new mount was still an 1" taller due to the fact the old one was flattened. i couldnt jack it up any further so i unbolted the drivers side of the trans crossmember and loosened the passenger then pried the crossmember down far enough to get the new mount in. after bolting the crossmember back up i first bolted the mount to the crossmember and tried to bolt the trans to it. the trans was about 1/4" to far to the drivers side and 1/4" to far forward. i decided to be done with it for the night and tried again yesterday after work. i unbolted the mount from the crossmember and bolted it to the trans first after jacking the trans up again, it bolted to the trans fine and as i lowered it, it dropped into place so i could bolt it to the crossmember. was hard on saturday, but after rethinking how to do it i dont consider it to be that hard of a task. NOT 10 min. but not hard. Now... if the old mount hasnt collasped than it wont be any harder getting the old out than getting the new one in. in my case the new one was an 1" bigger.

Didn't do nothing , except cleaning and vacuuming "Ye Old Reliable"

While I was cleaning the sides of the trunk , I pushed a little with the cleaner tip on the rear fender and dig a little hole in it...

Must be a hell of a vacuum cleaner ! !

i did nothign, still waiting to get to houston to get the fuel lines and sending unit for my truck, going to be putting in an intank eletric fuel pump, ill let y'all know how it goes.

Take the nut off the transmission mount, raise the transmission up, pull the crossmember out, take transmission mount off, install new transmission mount, install crossmember, lower the transmission (easy), put nut back on the transmission mount.

Removing the crossmember might seem silly, but I think it helped a lot when I replaced mine. Plus its something else you get to clean up and put back on, if you like that kinda stuff.

I appreciate you looking out for me Joe. I spent my week busting my butt getting everything done so I could leave town. I spent the rest of the week and weekend chillin on the beaches of Destin Florida. WOW! What an awesome place to vacation. We had a ball hanging out with friends an soaking up the Florida sun. I'll post pics as soon as I unpack my camera...

Ken,

I love Destin too! I think that's about my favorite place in the whole world. I've been there twice, once a few years ago with my family on vacation, and once last year with my wife on our honeymoon. Actually, last year we stayed in a condo at Navarre Beach, a few miles west of Destin. That whole coastline is absolutely awesome. We were planning to go back this summer, but I think it will be too hot by the time we can get away.

It really is nice almost all the way to Panama City. We drove from Destin down the coastline to Panama City beach. The closer we got to Panama City the rougher the hood looked. Watercolor, Seaside, Sea Crest and a couple other small towns along the way were just awesome though.....
