stock or adjustable proportioning valve
i recently switched over to discs up front on my 70 blazer, so... i have to get a proportioning valve sometime, but should i go with the stock or an adjustable - I plan on switching the rear to discs as well ---todd

get an adjustable one if you are going to mess wioth the rear.
Something as seemingly harmless, like installing bigger rear tires can throw a well ballanced system out of whack. |

I wouldn't drive it too much without an disc/drum prop valve or an adjustable one. You'll go through the rear shoes pretty quickly. Don't ask me how I know that.

adj 45.00 stock 69.00 adjustable works with every combination, stock works with stock.

prop. valve
I run a Dodge Caravan aluminum master cylinder and don't think that I need a pro. valve at all. I have a Summit adjustable one installed on the rear with it turned up all the way and don't see the point of it being there. Isn't the point to be able to adjust if one locks up before the other so you can get max braking. I was told I needed one on the rear because "with the light back end of a pickup it will lockup the rear brakes easily" maybe with the stock wheels and tires on it. I never had that trouble when I had normal size radials front and rear either. Maybe I'm just lucky and the Caravan M.C. just works well.

thx all, i think i will go w/ the adjustable...which one is best and where is the best place to get it? I have a summit magazine, don't know if they have them though... thx for the info - todd

They are stock combo/prop valves in a cleaned up housing for show cars. stock prop valves do the same thing they do only uglier, the MB-VL3350k has the same features as a 71-72 stock valve but 80.00 more.

I went with the combination valve on my 69. I put the front disks on last week and it works like a dream no lockups. The comb has a metering valve, Pressure valve and Proportioning valve combined. The metering valve keeps the front disks from locking up at low speed and the proportioning keeps the rears from locking up at high speed.
I have have a wilwood manual I bought and did not use you can have it for $20. if you want
