Thumbs down Stupid Harmonic Balancer

I went to check the timing on an engine i recently had built Maybe has 2000 miles on it and i coudlnt find the mark looked and looked no where to be seen

So i was going to check and see if anything was obstructing the line since it was covered in muck from the roads and i only wiped it with a rag i found the mark it was clean

Looks to me like it slipped Does anyone know of a good place to get a NEW balancer im tired of putting repair sleeves on old ones and have problems ..

I dont want a fancy aftermarket one that does a bunch of neat stuff since this is a worktruck Cheap as possible Stock replacement Any info would be greatly apreciated ,

So far ive only seen these and im thinking there is someone who has cheaper. Proform Balancer

Why don't you get a balancer cover, that goes over the OEM one? They go for about $29 or so. Look in the Summit or Jegs catalog. Unlike tape, the cover does not fly off. Don't get the chrome one though, I hear they are hard to see when using a timing light.

Try a recycle yard, pickapart, or a scrap yard. Thers tons of sb balancers out there.

I dont want a used one The one thats one there looked great when we built the motor the rubber wasnt cracked oil soaked or anything.

The reason im wantin to replace it is because its slipped The outside ring isnt where it should be therefore its not doing its job Its not an issue of i cant time it its that its not properly balancing the engine

I apreciate the replies thou This really sucks because the 454 that i had in there before this SB did the same thing. But it was oil soaked and nasty 1985 Original

I know you said you don't want a used one, but I have one that's in good shape you can have.

Lucky's in Garland can get you one in a couple days. He got me an 8" balancer for $65. However, he's closed on Sunday and Monday.

These are a little cheaper but with the shipping the cost will probably be about the same. These look pretty good its degreed and brand new, the price isn't bad either.

Here is the company's website
http://www.professional-products.com...nicdampers.htm

The PowerForce is the regular balancer, the PowerForce+Plus is there "race" version of the regular one.

I know you said you didn't want a "fancy after-market" balancer but I think you might want to look at PowerForce. 37.95 for 6 3/4 and 49.95 for the 8 inch balancer.

That's the 8" I bought. It's a solid construction, so it should last a long, long time.

Thats cool anyone ever get anything from them.? from jegs they base shippping on item price as long as the shipping isnt 20 dollars it would be worth it . heck it would still be worth it because to get one from jegs would prolly end up costing close to 80 with shipping.

Just an old work truck with a f/t piston rv camed 350 i dont need nothing better but stock but i might look into that powerforce 90000 for my 72

I know a boy who's car i had doing some work to it he had a pro products one that was black and it had the marks half way around it pretty nice Ill look into it

And thanks for the links I have a scoggey dickey catolog but i didnt bother to look .

If that one's sold, email him, as he gets them in pretty regularly.
