4 spd to 5 spd ???
Has anyone out there tried converting your 4 spd to a newer 5 speed trans. I've been doing some research and from I understand the 5 speed out of a 91-95 1 ton Chev (New Venture model MT-8 or MW-3) is a basic bolt in replacement. Only problem is they aren't too cheap. Has anyone tried this yet?
thanks Darrell.. |

Haven't tried it yet, but it depends on what parts you get if it's a bolt in or not. You need the correct bellhousing and an adapter kit for your particular transfer case, (assuming you have a 4x4 of course). MT-8 (NV4500) has 2 different bellhousing bolt patterns and neither one is the same as the older 3-4 speeds.
What ya thinkin about puttin one in? I'm gonna be puttin one in my 72 before long I hope. I've got the trans, just waitin on Uncle Sam's refund check to see if I can afford the transfer case adapter kit, (Advance Adapters).
