was wondering ?

A buddy of mine is trying to buy a 72 chevy blazer from a guy from his job . The ownerof the blazer said it had a clear title . My buddy asked him if he could see the title to see if the #'s match and they did. He told me that the only problem was that the title said it was a truck ! My question is should the title say chevy truck or should it read chevy blazer ? Thanx,Frank

Re: was wondering ?

Title could be worded as truck, vin # would be the way to tell for sure

Let's see if this works -> http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/0010.html

Don't know about Texas but in VT we have two different 'classes' to register under.
One being 'truck' and the other is 'passenger vehicle'.

That's the law as of now though, can't imagine it would matter for a 30+ year old vehicle.

Do a vin check on the link LUV gave ya.

Re: was wondering ?

My '53 Burb is listed as a station wagon in AZ...The person at the MVD said that was correct a few years back when I got it. She said that is how they listed them back then....

Re: was wondering ?

In MIssissippi they are classified as Pass Veh (ie cars) because the tags are higher.

Re: was wondering ?

As you can see it depends on the state. Technically it is a half ton truck witht a utility body. Michigan also titled them as station wagons IIRC. There is nothing wrong with the title of that truck though. If you have any doubt at all, post the VIN. The VIN is different for a Blazer than a truck.

Re: was wondering ?

Mine is titled SW. In Pa. if it has a back seat and windows it is classified as a station wagon. OK with me as tags are cheaper!! Jim

Re: was wondering ?

Like was said above, its how it was titled and taged in the state, In Ks you can tag them either way truck or car. Mine was titled as a truck so when I taged it, I had them change it to car, cheaper
