Heater Blower Squirrel Cage
Interesting--I hit all the major suppliers--Napa, Oreillys, etc and nobody carries the blower motor fan unit or cage! What gives? Mines shot after I found the mice had chewed away 4 games on it.... Nasty little bastards....

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage
Thought I would add to this thread and not sure just how accurate this statement is as I have not tried it, but there is a guy on Northwest C10's who says the air conditioning motor and squirrel cage is a faster running motor so pushes more air than the standard non air unit and its a bolt up swap.

My 69 with A/C was born with a metal squirrel cage. I believe the A/C cages also had a larger diameter which may account for the greater output. |

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage
It's my belief they came with mice installed as standard..... OR as most engineers basically work off of design life they figured the only way to get sales on this front is to make them tasty to the little arseholes.... thus I also assume they are flavored or scented to suit if original.

I hear they did not like the Ford production lines, so they took a string and tied a big nut to it while the cab was being assembled and hid it in the pillar just behind the drivers side where they installed the shoulder belts! These were designed as farm trucks that could be used for recreation, So why not add the essential extras! |

Just got back to the shop from a craigslist buy and started disassembling the ac box. Plastic squirrel cage in perfect shape.

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage
It's a Mud Dauber Wasp nest on the core.
PITA like packrats; only don't chew up the wiring?

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage
that's right. better these things than mice. Last heater box I bought, I could not getrid of the urine smell. Even after bead blasting and multiple coats of clear. smell wouldn't go away. Had to toss that heater box in the trash

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage
Looks like autozone has it, but it's not included with the motor itself.
They have three "blower motor wheel" which are not model specific. P/N: 35446 $14.99, 35448 $12.99, 35218 $29.99 prices are for local autozone here in NJ, so prices may vary. Also make sure you get the correct rotation, some are CW and some CCW apparently. not sure if this link will work or not, if not please try searching for the part numbers above http://www.autozone.com/cooling-heat...s-5-7l-4bl-ohv |
