What's up with this 1962 steering wheel?
I need to pull the wheel off my 62 to fix the turn signal. I have a steering wheel puller, but I don't see a way to attach it. Do those three screws need to come out or no? I'm hoping no because they're those ding-dang clutch head screws and I don't have a screwdriver for them. Ideas?

Yes you will have to take those 3 screws out unfortunately.

I believe they're like 1/4 inch Allen.

they are called "butterfly", or "clutch head" a special screw driver. gm used those screws up until about 63... sometimes you can use a flat blade-straight edge- screwdriver that is the exact size to get them out, but be careful not to strip them! whenever I can I then replace the screw with the later models' Phillips screw.

Go and buy a cheap screwdriver bit set that includes a selection of clutch head drivers. I bought a 100 piece set for less than £10 ($15) recently.
Well worth the investment P. |

Picked up a clutch-head set on Amazon for $10, should be here today and I can get this thing off. First time I'd ever seen one of these screws (my first project was a 1971 Caddy coupe, no clutchheads there).
