48 Cab Over-New GM frame/powertrain

Hi guys,

I am looking at a 48 GMC cab over appears to be long nose model, to buy. Has anyone of you guys put the cab on a current truck frame say late 90's up Chev/GMC frame. So I get the old look but can drive it anywhere. I understand its a major project just kind of more concered bout frame widths, front frame horn clearence, core support issues. Any feedback positive or negitive welcome. Just got all of my 503 parts back so my 56 will be done soon need another project.

Why yes I am, you got questions....I got answers, they may be wrong but I got em. So you say you think you have a long nose version, got any picks? I don't know that I have heard of a long nose COE. Maybe it came with the ultra-rare inline 10 option.

Have not seen truck in person yet, says to have 6 cyc motor still in it, 4 speed trans, with 2 speed rear. As you all know I only will be in need of cab, what kind of $$$ would you guys put on this truck?

Any of you guys have torque specs for a 1956 503 engine, all parts just rolled in need to assemble. Took a bit to get all the parts but I got em.

Hey guys,

How do you all think a 93 P30 (potato chip truck). Would work as a donor? May have a lead on one if that whole deal works out.

For the P30, the steering is at a good angle but is at the very front of the frame. If you use a steer-clear unit this may work well if you can clear the grill. The 80s to early 90s Chevy duel wheel trucks seem to work good after the steering issues are worked out. Are you set on front engine location?

This is a p30 with dual rear wheels, its the ole 6.5 diesel. Id rather not have to change motor location but I realize I may have to. Truck only has 10k on it hit me like a ton of bricks when I thought that it maybe a great donor.
