ls engine with six cylinder mounts?

I currently have a 350 sbc in the six cylinder mounts with a short shaft th350. I am going to put in a 5.3 with a 2wd 4l60e. Will the six cyl towers work or will I have to get some v8 towers? Thanks for the help.

Re: ls engine with six cylinder mounts?

I used the six frame towers on the back holes on the frame with 68 Engine mounts. It works. You will have to use a Lokar cable shifter. If you can, get it with the longer cable so it doesn't have to do a tight turn. Also, If using Doug Thorley tri-Y headers, they dump kinda close to the tranny crossmember. It makes for a tight turn coming out of the headers. Home made or custom crossmember would fix this. I used the stock crossmember and used 2 inch exhaust doing tight 90's. Also, the tranny crossmember has to be moved forward about 2 inches I think. Used the stock TH400 tranny mount if I remember correctly. Any more questions, just ask. Good luck. Jim.

Re: ls engine with six cylinder mounts?

hello. personally i used the v8 mounts with swaptech adapter plates. the v8 position leaves the lsx in tight space against the fire wall. i like to have space to fix anything in that general area. just my 2 cents. if you want pics pm me. good luck

Just an update, I made my own adapter plates that put the engine up three inches. The driveshaft fit perfectly and everything went in without issues.
