Shim Shim SHIMMAAAA
Now, when i started my frame-off on my 69 LWB I labelled all important parts and stuck them in bags in an organized fashion..... some how between the move from calgary to cranbrook, the movers lost this box. In this box was the shims for my upper control arms and the pictures so i would remember where to put them again.
Does ayone happen to know what shims to use and where on the front a arm assembly.. or have any pics, so that I can get this thing together... it's the only thing holding me back right now!! Thanks, Cory

Here's a pic. Look closely at the control arm and you can see the shims.

Re: Shim Shim SHIMMAAAA
so.... is there any specific differences to the shims that go on the front bolt as apposed to the back? or is it 3 on each bolt?

Re: Shim Shim SHIMMAAAA
I would think the number of shims would be related to what you need for a good alignment.

Re: Shim Shim SHIMMAAAA
Shims are for alignment.Once everything is together you will need alignment anyway.Just make that the first stop since it will cause premature tire wear.

Re: Shim Shim SHIMMAAAA
if you have lowering springs, you'll need more shims.
You can get a stack of them at the junk yard, or probably at an alignment shop, get it close (eyeball it to where the tire sits verticle) and limp it to the alignment shop for a correct job. As viewed from the front; I-----I is right; /-----\ Would need a butt load of shims; \-----/ Would be way over shimmed. |

Re: Shim Shim SHIMMAAAA
Awesome, thanks guys. Really appreciate the help, luckily the alignment shop is only 2 and a half blocks away so i don't need to worry too much. Will definately have to take a trip to the junk yard when i get back from picking up my 78 on monday. Once again thanks alot!
