Re: Salvage yard being sold on CL....not mine...

Just got off the phone with dennis a few hours ago. He told me to call him back at 12pm tommorow and he would meet me at the salvage yard. He says 2 or 3 of the trucks are a friend of his and that friend has two trailers full of NOS and used parts. His friend used to sell the parts at car shows and doesn't anymore. He told me to bring my camera and all the friends I could bring. He also said he used to go to charlotte autofair and sell his running trucks but he just doesnt have the time anymore thats one other reason he is selling out. He does have a 1967 NOS bedside for 1,500 dollars. i forgot to ask him which side and if it was fleetside or stepside. I will post pics in here tommorow of his trucks. Should I post the pictures here or start a new page for the pics?

Re: Salvage yard being sold on CL....not mine...

Talked to Dennis a few minutes ago. He owns a body shop and used to build these trucks. Apparently the trucks are located on a relative's land and they are going to sell it. I have a good friend in Rock Hill. I am going to try to persuade him to go take pictures. I am sure I'm going to ride up to see the whole deal so I will post pictures when I get them.

Re: Salvage yard being sold on CL....not mine...

Here is just a short few of the pics i took today this guy has alot of stuff. Big block motor mounts big block ac brackets, big block trucks small block trucks. there are soo many weeds you cant see it all yet. Most of the trucks are just good for parts but some of them are fixable. I will post more pics tommorow.

Re: Salvage yard being sold on CL....not mine...

He has quite a few ac cab trucks. a suburban and a panel truck 70?71 0r 72 I AM NOT sure of the years. He has parts laying everywhere, tons of wheels theres stuff I didnt even get to see that i am going back tommorow to see. I will take more pics he has alot of shortbed trucks, just short bed frames also, I thought I had died and gone to 67-72 truck heaven!!! Give Dennis a call he is a really nice guy and doesnt want to crush any of this stuff he just wants to see it sold to someone that loves 67 to 72 trucks like he does. They are selling the land really soon so dont wait till all the good stuff is gone.

He also has a original one ton wrecker minus the body the cab and fenders are there and I think it has a motor in it still too. i am going to take a pad and pen and try to get a inventory of his parts tomorrow if he has time.

Re: Salvage yard being sold on CL....not mine...

humm, im thinking this isnt gonna turn out for the good of those trucks. he may be a nice guy and all,and loved these years of trucks. but truthfully how many people can just up and buy a junk yard, even if ya had the money, where would ya put all of it.id say the only people or company that would buy all of it, would include someone showing up with a big crusher. and that would be a shame. sure hope your thoughts are wrong and he is willing to part. just my 2 pennys.

Re: Salvage yard being sold on CL....not mine...

I don't know why the last pics turned out big? The NOS Parts are the ones in the metal baskets. Here are more pics and I couldn't get any definate prices from him yesterday so call him and see what he wants for the panel and surburban. I will ask him today he told me yesterday the most expensive thing he had out there was 1,500. I really didn't ask him prices yesterday i was too fasciated that he could remember where he bought every truck and if it ran opr not. Hopefully today I will not be so mesmerized.

Re: Salvage yard being sold on CL....not mine...

That is no lie Tim....Okay, so Tgriffin (good guy and got a patina lookin 67 that he drove) and I went out there again today...I took about 30 pictures of trucks, spids, parts, etc....you'll definitely need someone to chop line to get to some of these trucks....glad we went when it was cold out...would not of been a cool trip if it was summer!!!
Here's the deal...he is trying to sell these trucks...he's posting FS ads all over the country on CL to get rid of them...he just wants them gone....I am still new to these things, but I can tell you he knows what he has and can give you a story about each truck....Of course, since they have been sitting out there since I think the mid-90's all of these trucks are NOT in great shape...a couple of beds looked okay, a couple of bed floors in excellent shape (which he proceeded to tell us that him and his buddy have $600 bucks in since they sold and re-bought them for other projects that they have never finished)...didn't see any buddy buckets, tilt columns, tach dashes...did see a couple of factory big block trucks and lots of parts etc....even had a burb that he said had some NOS stuff in, but didn't have time to look though...
Give him a call if interested in buying anything, but know he is not parting anything...he did say if you want to come and get some parts, make a list,
call him to check if he has, and bring your tool box, pb blaster, something to chop the weeds and briers and a trailer...but make it worth his while (whatever that means?!?!?).....now here's the pics...

Wow that looks like it would be snakey in the summer!!! I wish he was up by me, I like buying guys out like that, its fun tearing into something like that. I've did it a couple times, one time 27 trucks another time 30 trucks and about that many trailer loads of parts. Looks like fun Geoff!!!
