crate engine identification, help!

Hey everyone. I'm trying to figure out a little more information on the engine that's in my truck. From what the previous owner of the vehicle told me it is a crate engine and I haven't been able to find out how to correctly identify a crate. From what I can see the engine code of the front of the passenger side of the engine reads "VD185800" and the casting number is "14016379." From the sites I've looked at I gathered that the engine was built in Flint, Michigan (due to the V in the engine code) and it was possibly built in April 18, 2005 (D185, also in engine code). Also found that the casting number means it's possibly made for a 1978-1985 vehicle and that it's a 350ci engine. Is this information correct or is that fact that it's a crate engine screwing me up? Thanks for any help!
