metal bed floor for short step?

I didn't see any metal bed floors in the catalogs I have. Are they available for a short step?

Pics? Did you put sheetmetal over wood, or just the sheetmetal?

Re: metal bed floor for short step?

Classic Muscle (from Modern Chevrolet) in Winston Salem NC. has the floor panels for $75.00 each L&R. They come for long bed you have to cut them for short bed.Their web site is www.oldmusclecars.com Phone# 1-800-722-4828.

I am not sure these will work on step side.

Cool, I knew someone here had to have done a retrofit.

Re: metal bed floor for short step?

I used a fleetside floor when I built the`70 pro-street stepside I had.Used the fleetside wheelhouses for tubs, too. It looked factory and I figured it gave a little more rigidity against frame twist on launch. That`s how my`67 GMC will be done.
Pugs,that`s nice.

Re: metal bed floor for short step?

Im going to use a polished aluminum plate for my step side, the local metal fab shop will sell me a cut to fit sheet for around $100.00-I love the wood also but with strips and wood ect ect Im coming up with a $500 plus price tag.

Re: metal bed floor for short step?

ok here are my pics.i used all the factory cross seals and welded the square tubing to them and then welded the plate to the tubing.i also removed the factory angle iron from the bedside and replaced it with 3/16"x3/16" angle iron to match the plate.then spot welded it all the way around and then filled the seam with 3m seam sealer.it's bolted to the frame throgh the cross seals so there are no bolt heads showing in the floor.hope this helps!

Re: metal bed floor for short step?

Thanks for the pics LRed. I was wondering how you spaced the sheetmetal to make it fit.

I got a email reply from goodmark:

No word on that at this time...sorry! One of our suppliers is trying to develop it, but it will be several months before we even see a prototype.

Heard that you will have a metal bed floor for 67-72 Cehvy short stepside trucks.

True? When?

Thank you,

Don
