Who knows dump beds?
A guy was just here to buy some wheels from me and he had a truck with a dump bed. The truck was a manual with a PTO driven pump for the dump. This is the way I've always seen it. But... what if you wanted an automatic? How is it done in that case?

With an Automatic you just use a pump that is self contained. (just like the ones on lift gates,fork lifts, and Suspension set ups) It usually runs a 12v motor on the end of the pump to drive it.
The way I have seen it would be a hydraulic pump that pressurized 1 single line to go up and then hit the switch the other way and let the weight of the bed bring it back down. (1 pump, 1 dump, 1 3 way switch, 2 hydraulic lines) You can either buy these pumps with a number of different gears in the pump head or you can use one from a lift truck. depending on which you use make sure the cyl and hoses match the pressure it puts out. I have seen 1000 psi on lift gate pumps, 2-3000 on suspension pumps, Custom pumps and some oddball ones I have seen as much as 6000. Hope that helps..??

if you have an automatic 4X4 with a 205 transfer.You can still use a PTO
|

If you have an automatic transmission 4x4 and a 203 tc you can run a pto also. As another alternative you can run a motor driven pump.

I would use http://www.loadhog.com/YourTruck.htm i like there kit since it uses air and you can't tell its a dump bed truck tell you lift it up.

Well, the truck is a 2wd, but my mind changes more than a woman in a clothing store, so this all might end up on a 4x4 at a moment's notice. Thanks for the info guys.
