How rare are hand throttle's on 71 or 72 trucks?

Are they hard to find?

Who has one here and how do you like it?

I have a couple of setups, one I pulled out of a truck at the salvage yard and one that was in a junker truck a guy gave me a while back. Oh, there is also one in the '69 beater I bought a while back but I've never used it. Those are the only ones I have seen out of all the trucks scavenged parts from..

I bought one off the board and added it to my '71 Blazer. It is convenient for increasing the idle during warm up on cold winter days.

My 72 4x4 has one in it. The little I drove the truck before taking it apart, the throttle control worked very well. It is strange but cool when it is set for the first time- sort of like cruise that won't turn off when you step on the brake

I don't know if it will be used once truck is finished but I will leave it in place just in case.

Their original use was for increasing the RPM's for running PTO driven accessories.
You see some on camper specials too, I assume to increase the RPM's to get the alternator throwing out more charge to run electrical accessories.

they also fully rock for offroading with a stick shift. i drove a Ford a while back that had a T19 4 speed with the throttle knob mounted on the shifter, so you didn't need to fumble on the dash for it. Pretty dang neat.

I have the cable/knob assembly, but how to hook it to the accelerator pedal is a mystery. I don't think I have those parts.
I also added a '67-'68 style manual choke set up on my '71 Jimmy's dash.
I have thought of moving the wiper switch over to the left side and moving the headlight switch to the bottom like the '68 style and the Choke and Throttle would be on the right. Choke on the top?

Thanks for the link. My '71 Jimmy does have the angled steel bracket on the gas pedal ,but was not set up for the hand throttle. I also have the "THROTTLE" tab. My throttle cable set up came off a '69 GMC panel truck that passed breifly thru a local junker years ago. The PO wanted to sell me that whole thing for $500, but I had to let it go. I had enough projects at the time.
