Yo! Rusty!
Sorry to hear about your Ford,...always a pain when some driver gets out of hand!! Still haven't fixed my Camaros' rear valance that helped total a rear-ending Saturn a year ago,...but ya can't see the damage, it's that minor. Accidents are avoidable, but most have assumed that it's part of driving,...I'll not accept that after 36 years of driving without causing an accident. Generally, accidents are a result of complacency.
I completed FRANKENTRUCKs' stereo phase I (speaker panel fabrication, see post), and began struggling with phase II, DIN Kenwood stereo installation. Got some good leads from some great members though! It'll get done, just not today.
Todd.

Finished up the tune up on Bob and finally had good enough weather to wash & wax 'im. Got it all done and took him for a drive to see if I would get the check engine light...I did not . Got home and fiddled around with my better half's Mini and after I finished washing & waxing it I noticed I have a flat on the left rear of the truck. Damn It...it's always something!!!

Re: What did you get done 8/23/2009 edition

Got some work done on the 81 this weekend. Went over to a friends house and checked my R12 levels and added some to top it back off. I had to change a valve stem and lost a little bit.

After that I went and picked up a 30amp relay, inline fuse holder some 12g wire and some spade connectors. I got out the soldering iron and shrink wrap and went to work.

The fan is a 14'', I mounted it on the passenger side. Directly in front of the A/C condenser. I wired the relay to switch on with the A/C pump. The fan is pretty loud but the A/C is showing the help at idle. The extra air flow made the air noticeably cooler. It also doesnt vary as much from 55mph to Idle compared to what it used to.

I also went and picked up 2 more stock steel 15'' rims.

In the next few weeks Im hopefully going to order my flip kit and balljoints

Re: What did you get done 8/23/2009 edition

We had a very nice weekend here in east TN, it only got up to 80 today! So the wife and son was on me about getting the blazer out and take the top off. The blazer has not seen light for 4 weeks or more, so it was time and it was the first time for the top to come off with the truck done.. So I had to get some pics, got some wild looks too..

Re: What did you get done 8/23/2009 edition

finally got time to straighten out my brakes, and it looks as though my old proportioning valve was fine, just a pair old nasty rubber lines not passing brake fluid i guess next time i'll do better troubleshooting

Replaced the old vinyl plastic floor cover in my suburban with a new carpet kit.
Installed a new exhaust system...2.5" single with a flowmaster
Adjusted the carb and working on getting the timing just right before I drive to New York in a week for school.

Re: What did you get done 8/23/2009 edition

Started removing all my trim and grill, interior. Getting it ready for paint! I'm thinking of ditching the dumbo mirror and go with the sport mirrors? I am going to keep the cab trim, but the lower trim is not coming back.

Who makes the caliper mounts you used?

I have the El Dorado calipers and the spare rotors to do the swap once I get some time and a set of caliper brackets.

Re: What did you get done 8/23/2009 edition

Fixed a pesky master cylinder that was sucking air and pressure bled the system. It's nice to stop when you push on the brake pedal.

Put a CD player into the stock stereo opening without using an adapter.

Put a pair of speakers into the doors.

Built a pair of cab corner 6x9 panels. Still need to make the curved top section and seal the enclosure.

Swapped out the plastic window crank handles for a set of early GM metal handles.

I have been out of the 4x4 scene for a while now and haven't been to Pirate4x4 in a long time. Was it a group purchase or just an advertised sale on the brackets. The greatlakes web site lists them for $67 shipped.

Re: What did you get done 8/23/2009 edition

Travis the Blazer looks awesome with the top off. Heck it looks awesome no matter what.

I had a busy weekend myself. Friday night was spent running errands so I could have a free weekend. I picked up the rental trailer and loaded the Denali for my trip to Royce City.

Saturday morning got up at 5:00 am and spent an hour taking care of my weekend chores before I hit the road. I meet forum member Scoti at 10:30 in Rockwall and he rode with me the rest of the way to RPL Customs in Royce City.

I spent some time at RPL with Roger discussing his projects and what had been done to the 77. Scot and I loaded the 77 on the trailer and we went to get lunch.

After lunch I spent a couple hours at Scoti's storage looking at his projects. He gave me the scoop on his progress and I headed back to Cypress.

I decided to stop at the local Cruise spot in Spring just to make a quick pass through. Once I got parked a small crowd gathered around the truck sitting on the trailer. I noticed that most of them were on the passenger side so I walk over to chat. That's when I discovered that they weren't looking at my truck, they were looking at the tire on the trailer.

Somewhere after my last gas stop I had had a flat. Since it was dark, I couldn't see anything wrong and never felt a thing. Fortunately it was a tandem axle trailer.

The good news is I had a spare, lug wrench, and everything needed but I forgot to bring a jack. Fortunately I was able to borrow one from a guy that had trailered his race car up to the cruise spot.

Made it home with out incident from there.

I found a deal on some 22''s for my 05 GMC HD on the local craigslist. I was also coaxed into color matching the door handles by a board member who will remain nameless

You should thank them! It looks good.
I did my normal, yard work, hang out around the house and enjoy my one day weekend. Dang! I hate the care sales business schedule. Oh, I did find a front clip that I am thinking about for my truck.
