Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

I have been told that 1967 Chevy Trucks did not have Window Stickers. Anybody know if this is true or false?

Also, I have a complete copy of the original 1967 Chevy Truck Dealer Data Book but it contains no pricing information. Anybody know where to find Dealer Factory Option Pricing Booklets, Brochures, or Sheets (whatever they were called). I am trying to find out what the following options would have cost: Option G80 Positraction; Option C42 Deluxe Heater; Option E81 Wood Bed; Option V38 Painted Rear Bumper; and, Option M01 Heavy Duty Clutch. Any help appreciated.

Re: Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

The window sticker (as we know it today) was standardized by the Federal government and appeared I think in the 70's - but I do not know the exact date.

You can get reproduction "window stickers" for older cars (even older than ours) but the format and information contained on them varied wildly from manufacturer, or from dealer to dealer even.

you can usually get the original prices for options and things from reprints of dealer materials or even magazine reviews and you could enter them on a reproduction window sticker if you wanted to go all out.

if you have the original documents, great, they add history and provenance to your classic.

Re: Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

If it helps, the window sticker was "created" by the 506th piece of legislation of the 85th Congress, back in 1957.

This law required all automobile manufacturers to affix a price label to all new automobiles showing Manufacturers Suggested Retail Prices for vehicle and all options installed at the factory.

You'll also see it refererred to as a "Monroney" Label, probably the name of the guy that sponsored the bill.

However, the question is whether or not the sticker in the glovebox (SPID) substituted for a window sticker.

The window sticker repro place I looked at did not list them for trucks.

Re: Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

There is a member here who generates window stickers with the data you supply from the SPID or your wish list. I don't remember who it is, but you can do a search and find him.

Re: Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

I know for a fact that atleast in 72', trucks came with window stickers. I seen one about 2 months ago when a pretty local guy on craigslist (orig. owner) was selling his 2wd Cheyenne Super. I assume they were on all our trucks, though different styles over the years. Trevor

The SPID label could not be substituted for the Monroney label (window sticker) because the SPID does not contain price information (among other things).

You are correct davepl ,,I looked it up ..

On July 7, 1958, Senator Monroney's bill became law. Beginning on September 1, 1958, every automobile manufacturer was required to securely affix a label to the window of the vehicle, disclosing information concerning the vehicle and its price. Any manufacturer who failed to comply, could be levied a fine of not more than $1000 and/or imprisonment of not more than one year.

Re: Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

Here is a previous thread about the "Full-depth foam" (option Z52) seats.

http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=280580

I recall my uncle (the original owner) telling me he chose the foam seat option because the standard seats were notoriously uncomfortable.

At least in 68, the full-depth foam seats also came with RH and LH armrests.

Re: Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

the heater was base model equipment in 67... as in it was standard. That was the first year for it being standard.
GM told the dealers to specify it as an option, but not to charge for it. Any 10 - 30 C or K truck that did not specify a heater got a credit/discount on the base price of the vehicle.
So technicly, there is no MSRP on the heater in 67.

I remember looking at window stickers from at least 1963 when I bought my first new vehicle, and I think window stickers were required on cars some years before they were required on trucks. Course, my memory may be failin' like some of the other stuff.

Re: Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

Anyone know where I can find original 1972 NOS Window stickers for our C10?

Also, I tried to contact www.window-sticker.com to see if they would reproduce one but they won't. Anyone have any idea of another person that can do it?

Re: Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

I didnt think window stickers were required on trucks until the late 80's or early 90's. I worked for a GMC dealer 84-87 and none of the trucks had them, the dealer increased the "msrp" by $1K that way. could have been just here in Texas though.

Re: Window Stickers & Factory Option Prices

Those prices should be in your 67 dealer data book, "Gasoline Model Prices" tab, which is section 5 and the details on pages 10 + 11. The data book I have has a print date of Nov 1966 on those pages for the 1967 models. GM did send updates throughout the year to change sections or pages when revisions were made. Some of the data books I own do have different print dates on the lower pages in different sections relating to the same model year truck.
Longhorn Man may be correct in his standard equipment handwritten in comment for the C42 deluxe heater. The books are valuable sources of info, but the data books themselves do have errors occassionaly.
