In tank Fuel Pump ideas? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

In my 66 Gmc I have a fuel injection motor and while now the tank works fine, but is having some leaking issues; and it's only a 10 Gallon tank. So I'm searching for a new tank, with the pump inside the tank to help out. I know of Boyd's tank that fit but is a steep price. So are there other options, or can I stick a fuel pump in say a LMC tank or a different brand and be okay?

I have seen people run the 25 gallon Blazer tank from a 1987 K5. That was a fuel injected engine that year and had an in tank pump.

You can order the tank (32-5945) and the sending unit (32-4067) from LMC.

Use the correct in tank pump for the fuel requirements of your engine, and install it on the sending unit.

Imo, Boyd's are worth the $. You don't have to get the in tank pump option. I run an external pump and have for 8 ish years with no issues.

I bought a Boyd's non -fi tank and had a holley blue electric pump on it
The tank was great but man was that pump annoying. To be fair, I had the pump in a "dead headed" no return system which didn't help the noise. Ended up with a Fi-tech fuel injection and had to install a Tanks inc. retrofit pump in the tank and couldn't be happier. Tanks inc. Was the cheapest route I found for the retrofit but probably would have been money ahead just purchasing the FI tank from Boyd's in the first place(had I known). Good luck!

I'm just worried about the pump over heating going a decent distance, would like to drive it home from school from here and there to show off to parents and family.

How was the install of Boyds? Fit like a glove with no real problems?

I have a pierburg pump, stock for some Mercedes vehicles. I have never had any heat issues and I live in Texas,

Pierburg pumps aren't cheap but they are quiet and built well.

This is what I have and where I got it.been running since 2010.
