64-65 truck value
Buddy has a 64-65 I think, I can't member for sure. maybe 65-66???
Think its a 64 but has 65 front end parts on it or something like that. Over all its in good shape. Original motor and all runs well. Has them real low granny gears. He paid $800 for it, is there any value in the old trucks not done up for custom shows??? He wants to sell it but can't get any bits for even what he paid. |

these trucks have that problem.... we love them and pay lots to fix them up, but they just have no resell value to the general public....
As a wrecking yard friend told me "they are good to feed to the crusher" after we asked if he had any interest in the 5 parts trucks that I have.... I wouldn't do that ,and they are worth something to me, but your buddy will probably be better off trading for something or accepting that he will proably take a loss on the deal. check the craigslist ads in your area... to get an idea of what people are asking. Over the past 5-6 years, I have noticed the '60-'66 Chevy/GMC trucks coming along, trying to keep pace with the '55-'59/'67-'72, due in part to the national mags giving them some ink. Many times I have noticed them making the same statement in their write-up. Also, many of the aftermarket truck suppliers are carrying more parts specific to the '60-'66, in order to keep up with the needs/demands of the truck customers.
From my personal experience, I have owned/traded/sold several 4-5-6 Chevy trucks over the past several years and never, once, gotten stung on getting my money back. I don't deal with these trucks to make money, but when things get tough with my primary business of commercial construction, I sell one of my trucks, the same way some people would sell off some stocks. The key factor in your friend getting his money back from his initial investment, is the factory/dealer options, overall condition and completeness of the truck. A well-optioned truck, regardless of the body condition, will fetch decent money, because patch panels are available, but many of the factory/dealer options (Regular Production Options a.k.a., R.P.O.) are not being offered in the aftermarket as OEM/NOS parts. My suggestion to your friend is to become a Site Supporter, by paying a meager $25.00 fee, and post his truck, with pictures, in the Parts For Sale forum. I have personally bought/sold 4-5-6 Chevy trucks for $100.00-$19,000.00, of course, depending on the truck and condition of the truck. In any case, good luck to your friend selling his truck. PS-One suggestion is to make sure the truck is complete and all the accessories work, because not every truck lover can wrench or wants to wrench on their ride, unlike most of us. |

....over on craigs list in rogue river oregon,there are 2 66 lwb one to build and 1 for parts
for $1200,you could likely get them for $500 ea........

I was at a farm auction back in november and some long step sides brought way more than I though they would or would be worth. Thinking it was in BFE I'd get a good dea. wrong. but I did get one today for less than 150. this grey one brought just under 400 and the baby blue with a short block that was toast, no heads brought $650!!!

We are experiencing an upward trend in the popularity of the '60-'66 Chevy trucks, as evidenced by the ink this era is starting to get in some of the national truck magazines. It also doesn't hurt when a '60-'66 Chevy truck is featured on Trucks, from time to time. Also, I have noticed more and more "new" parts being offered by the aftermarket truck suppliers for the '60-'66 Chevy trucks.
I don't anticipate a rush to go out and buy up all the '60-'66 Chevy trucks, but they are starting to close the gap with the '55-'59 and the '67-'72 era Chevy trucks. I also think that owners of these trucks are seeing the interest level going up and they are hitting the market, via the internet more and more. |

Ive wanted one for a while. I remember these trucks a lot in the 70's. And many are still workhorses today.

This is my first 4-5-6 Chevy truck, I bought in 1981. I paid a whopping $500.00 for it. This truck, as equipped, was probably $1,800.00 off the lot.

lilred I do agree with you... as the 5-9 trucks are drying up, people are turning towards the 60-66, and they are getting more print now than they used too. Maybe also the people that remember this 7 year run of trucks are starting to get older, and nostalgic for them.
All this is great, I know I saw more go to the crusher this year due to high steel prices than I wanted to see, if I had it my way I would try to save them all... All I need is a giant piece of land, and a dump truck (60-66 of course) full of $100 bills, and I'll get started! |

Well I wasn't sure why he wanted it. Buged n bugged the guy for years I think to get it, thinking he could make money on it, being old.
Told him to drop a truck load into it to make it a slammer show truck and then it will sell Which is true. I would look sick all done up nice and on bags to sit low. |
