Largest wheel/tire for 1986 4x4

Currently I'm running stock rims and tire size on my 1986 1 ton, 4x4 SRW, crew cab, 8' bed truck. I'm thinking, I want a larger looking wheel/tire, but don't want to put a lift kit on the truck.

I saw a Suburban the other day that had 285/75-16 tire with what appeared to be a slightly wider rim. I'm thinking of going with the American Racing Polished Baja Wheels like I saw on the Suburban.

So, would I this use the standard 16" size rim and just put 285/75-16 tires or do I go with a slightly wider rim with the larger tire, etc...????

I don't want the wheels/tires sticking out the side looking like a roller skate, so I know I have to watch the offset.

Any help or pics of trucks would be great.

Re: Largest wheel/tire for 1986 4x4

You can run 33s on these trucks all day long. I was looking at a truck over the summer that had 295/75/16s, which is a tad over 33" tall. Looked pretty good, and didn't have the stuffed look to it. If I could leave a truck alone at stock height I would run that size.

If you get a wheel that is 8" wide with neutral offset, (4" b/s) it will stick out bout an inch or so.
