Cargo light troubles
I'm trying to sort out my new to me '06 1500's cargo light that won't turn on.
The bulbs are good the fuses in both fuse boxes are good. I get no power at the plug at the top of the cab except for the 3rd brake light. I bought a $20 dollar switch off of amazon and it went up in smoke in the amount of time it took to turn the cargo light walk to the back and see no light walk back to the open drivers door and see smoke coming out of new switch...so I quickly shut it off and removed it...yeah I know probably wasn't a good idea to get an amazon part. I then checked the plug to the switch which is also for the factory fog lights. The following it what I found: 'A' purple wire - 12v with switch on 'B' green wire - 12v constant 'C' orange wire - 12v constant 'D' black wire - Ground 'E' brown wire - 12v with switch on 'F' blue wire - 12v constant Does that sound right? should one or more of those wires be "dead" and fed electricity when the switch closes? So I am wondering is a wire shorted somewhere or did the previous owner mess with some wires and somewhere something is hooked to the wrong place...but from what I can see wiring doesn't appear to have been touched. Also another possibility is something get messed up when the shop that did the work for the dealership put in the new headliner. If anyone has any thoughts or questions on things to check or try I would appreciate it. Thanks, Adam
