Exclamation My turn for a "What did you get done this weekend?" thread!

Well, I know it's only Saturday evening, but I had yesterday off too, so I actually did some wrenching on the 68. I was going to hold back and just shock everyone when I get it done, but can't wait that long

Granted these are baby steps, but it's progress, a step in the right direction.

What I got accomplished:
  • Took out the rear lowering blocks
  • Got all the lights working, and the truck actually has 2 headlights again, for the first time in many years
  • Got the front bumper re-mounted
  • Got the new/used good rear tires/rims on (free!!)
  • Got the brakes up a little, so I can drive it around the block if I'm feeling ballsy
  • Got the steps put back on (after a few years)
  • Got the rear fenders secured well
  • Got the trans fully-functioning again
  • Cut the check to the trans rebuilder for the 88 700R4 he just built for me

Like I said, baby steps. But if you consider that I've done more work to this truck in the past 2 days than I have in the past 4 years, it's kinda like a milestone I had this sick feeling in my stomach after I got done for the evening, and I just realized what it is.....a sense of accomplishment.

Going to be putting the power steering box on tomorrow, and trying to button up a few more loose ends.

Next step is getting a few hours north so my friend Jason and I can get the front end re-done, and get the discs installed

So....what did you get done this weekend?

Re: My turn for a "What did you get done this weekend?" thread!

Went to work for about 3 hours this morning, saw a killer 72 Cheyenne Super-jet black beauty, installed upper control arms & lower ball joints in my 2000 F*rd, mowed my lawn and washed 3 vehicles...I'm whooped!
And, got my haircut today!!

Funny, I saw a sweet truck too, forgot to mention it. The big siding & window company near me has a nice 69 lwb 1/2 ton that sits on the corner of their lot during nice weather. Has a ladder rack and all. It was getting dark and all I had was my camera phone, so I couldn't get a pic.

today i did something that had nothing to do with a chevy or a truck, but it is engine related. i removed the exhaust restrictions out of my dove-c bbf heads and did some minor port work. i'm building a 557 for my 1968 ford galaxie 500 fastback. i need displacement to move that big girl. i'll post pics

Re: My turn for a "What did you get done this weekend?" thread!

I cleaned 187 lbs of bugs off the Dodge's front end, or at least it seemed that much. Not much, I have been on the road a lot running back and forth to my daughter's school this week. I did some tweaking on my 72 (Snapper that is , which always needs tweakin ) so I could mow my pasture of a lawn today. Now I am being lazy and veg'n on the board.

Re: My turn for a "What did you get done this weekend?" thread!

Removed inner fenders, degreased engine bay, degreased engine bay, scrubbed with wire brush, rinsed (time for a steam cleaner next weekend). Purchased wiper removal tool & removed cowl, vent doors to clean debris in vents.
Got my Q-jet rebuild/modify book Friday and read some of that.

I Replaced front drivers side wheel bearings that disintegrated Thursday. Stripped interior, sanded and sprayed epoxy primer. Should have the exterior in primer next weekend.

Re: My turn for a "What did you get done this weekend?" thread!

Yesteday I got a little work done on my '71 C-10, put the lense cover on the interior light, cover on steering wheel and rubber covers on brake and clutch pedals.

Today I worked on the roof for the 16'x24' craft-room I am building for my wife, drove the '71 to town, about 5 miles away, and got mower gasoline. When I got home I mowed our 1.5 acre lawn.

Re: My turn for a "What did you get done this weekend?" thread!

Got my center caps from PICKMUP (Thanks Frank! I'll post again when they're on.) and stopped by Classic Heartbeat to buy something since I was in the neighborhood.

Found some cheap labor to paint the letters on my tires. Only cost me a stick of Hot Tires and an ice cream cone.

Got the ole Jimmy out of the garage since I started the rebuild, washed of body filler and primer dust and cleaned the garage, ready to start some more body work.

Helped one buddy put up a garage door opener and another friend with his riding mower got beer for helping.

Re: My turn for a "What did you get done this weekend?" thread!

Well I'm still working as I type. I have 3 more coats of clear to shoot on a few parts for Lemon Drop. I started my gas filler for "Low Buck" and did some rear brake work as well. Went to a wedding last night and church this morning so basicly not a whole lot this week end I also got a few pics of a sweet 32 ford!

Got it at Auto Zone. It's also at Schucks (Kragen out east, I believe). It works incredibly easy if you take your time. Took about 4 hours total for my tires and it looks great from 5 feet away.

Re: My turn for a "What did you get done this weekend?" thread!

well lets see. Friday i started working on a mini bike to sell at a swap meet sunday. Got 100 bucks out of it I was pleased i only had 40 in it. I also got the 86 chevy van sidemarkers i bought off ebay and started preparing them for my LED turn signals by ripping all the plastic off the backside. Umm saturday finished up the minibike and rode it around a little. That took most of the day. Sunday went to a swap meet at the UMB bank pavillion in earth city, MO. Saw a lot of 67-72's out there. Decent amount of parts too. Bought a headlight bezel, some hose clamps, and a ricer style air filter and intake for my 91 ranger. Didnt really get to do much on bluebird other than installing an inline clear fuel filter after the pump/before the carb. Got some orders for custom LED's. Im making a pair for a 46 ford and a 40 chevy bus. Hopefully i will get to do more of these as word spreads around the local car club.

Got the truck moved to my buddies new shop and prepped it for it's second coat of primer and taped everything off that didn't need high build primer. Then we shot a whole gallon for high build primer. Tomorrow we will shoot it with a guide coat and start round two of block sanding.
