September 2012 TOTM
The theme for September’s Truck of the Month contest is.
School is Back In Session! This theme is based off our family haulin’ side of the board. To see what it takes to be a nominee this month, the truck will need to meet these criteria:
You or someone else may nominate the vehicle. The nominee must be a board member and the current owner of the truck. Once you decide on who you wish to nominate, just add your nomination to this thread. We will need two pictures minimum (at least one full view of the vehicle) with/for the nomination as well as the owner’s board name, the year of the truck, and any other specs of the truck (interior details, engine/drive train specs) that you may want to provide. Nominees will run through August 24. The first 15 nominees that meet the criteria will participate in the contest. I will PM the nominees to get any additional data or pictures if they have not already been provided. I normally use 1 picture showing a good front-side view and 1 with a rear view of the vehicle in the voting threads. If the owner has a preferred picture they want used in the contest, please let me know in a PM. You can PM me for an e-mail address in case anyone has problems resizing the pictures for the board. A Poll Thread will be set up by August 25 in this board area and an announcement will be posted on the Discussion Boards to notify all that voting has begun. The Poll will run thru the morning of September 1 and the official announcement of the winner will be on the afternoon of September 1. The announcement of the TOTM winner will be posted through the General Discussion Board area.

Re: September 2012 TOTM
I would like to add my '72 Blazer. It was finished shortly after my wife and I got married and has been there to see the birth of my two kids. We have enjoyed lots of great trips, and now my kids jump up and down when they see the 'yellow truck'. It has a mild balanced and blueprinted 350 and a 700r4, 4.10 gears with a locker in front and a modified gov lock in the 14 bolt ff rear. A full interior and A/C keeps momma happy.

The vehicle nominated needs to belong to a board member during the time of the contest. It must be together and able to move on its own power. The truck has to be licensed for street use. If a truck was selected as a 2011 or 2012 TOTM winner then you are ineligible. If you were nominated but were not selected as a TOTM winner then you may be nominated and compete in this month's category."

Re: September 2012 TOTM
jeez, I was just in the contest last month, but mine hauls loads and family. Guess since I am a big time family man (3 kids), I will jump in again.
It seats 8 comfortably (and legally) plus a couple dogs and a whole bunch of luggage. On a trip to Jellystone Campground 2 weeks ago, I clicked over 20,000 miles since I got it road ready in Feb of '10. (it wasn't COMPLETED then, but I was driving it) My kids love the Burb and I pick them up from school in it all the time. In fact, most people only know me if I am driving it. If I am in my wifes mini-van, I wave at people and they dont even notice. All of my kids friends know it well and I see kids at the store that say "Aren't you Sam's dad" based on their knowledge of the Burb. The Burb is also practical as a daily driver. It is a '70 body resting on a shortened '99 3/4 ton Suburban chassis. So, the running gear drives smooth and it has power steering, power brakes (front disc/rear drum), fuel injection and a variety of other mods to make it comfortable. Plus, it'll easily tow 10,000 lbs (but that only mattered last month- ) It has the leather interior from a '05 Suburban. A few other details... -Leather seating for 8 -Power heated lumbar front seats -Vintage Air front and rear air (yep, Vintage Air doesn't make a rear air system-ya gotta get creative sometimes) -Custom headliner with 8 speaker stereo including two 10" subs in rear enclosures -12.1" rotatable flat screen with DVD -HD Radio with CD and Ipod Interface -Sirius Satellite Radio -Dakota Digital Dash -Center console with 6 pack cooler Here's some pics... Trip with wife and three kids to Myrtle Beach in June The driveway... A few of the interior... Cargo Area (third row seats will fold and flip to add a few more feet of space) Headliner (older photo before rear air install) Rear A/C (brand new addition- no build thread yet) Engine shot
