Anyone have any stock front coils they took out of a 71 or 72 1/2 ton, small block truck they could measure for me. Pics would be a big help as well. I'm trying to figure out if these are the original stock springs out of my truck. Speculation is they may be 3/4 ton or 73 & ^.

Side by side with ECE 2" drop springs

If I remember right, I was told that stock springs measured 13 inches. Those also look a little beefier so maybe your theory is correct.

My Stock springs measure 14" top to bottom (after removing them from the truck). I have a 72 1/2 Ton, 350/350

Oh, and the stock Delco springs I bought to replace them, measured 13.75" top to bottom.

That sounds reasonable close to mine. I could see them being 1/2" different after 40 yrs of settling. Anyone else?

I just pulled a 72 front end apart today, the ones out of it measure a little shy of 13 3/4

I guess the next step is to measure the diameter of the wire used to make the springs. Anyone got a set of calipers they can check that with?

Keep them coming. I need as much info as I can get. Here is the issue we (ECE and I) are tying to resolve.

Thanks BOZO. That is pretty close to mine. It seems my springs are no different than any other 1/2 small block springs as far as the dimensions. I guess they could still have a different rate if the material is a different hardness.

Anyone else got a set of stock 1/2 ton springs laying around? More information is always helpful.

Mine looked almost exactly the same when I took them out side by side with the 2" drops (if you recall from the other thread). I measured the drop springs before putting them back in, they were 12" exactly. The stocks I don't have a pic of, but they were (cut two coils) just over 13", but that's on a 38 year old Georgia farm/ranch truck with a quarter million miles. spindle center to fender measurement was just over an inch less with the drops installed.

My springs are 12 7/8 " high. I don't have a set of calipers. The spring diameter is 5 1/2 ".

If you go to NAPA's web site the give the hight and coil thicknes of there springs.

1-PU I am only concerned with factory original springs. I'm trying to figure out another issue.
