Have you ever forgotten some of the parts you have laying around?
Something I found in my garage...This is a never used Jack Set I bought a few years ago. I think I paid about $100-125.

Do that with books, manuals and brochures a lot. Or worse I'll not be able to find something I need and have buy another.

Re: Have you ever forgotten some of the parts you have laying around?
Oh, man, where do I begin? I solved some of the problem by scrapping over a half-ton of 'stuff', mostly motorcycle and European car parts, when I moved out west. Just yesterday I found the Honda distributor I got, just in case I would need it. The wife's Civic wouldn't start, and, sure enough, it was the usual culprit- the distributor. I had totally forgotten the damned thing, until I was rummaging around in the current drawerful of Mercedes parts. I remebered thinking I would put it up on CL, pick up some cash, quite awhile back. Glad I forgot about that plan, and even happier that I got her beloved Honda back on the road. So far, haven't 'lost' any truck parts. So far...

At least you found the part before you sold the car.

Re: Have you ever forgotten some of the parts you have laying around?
Found a Vortec intake in the barn last weekend. I didn't really forget about it but did not remember it was there. It wasn't something that I was looking for when I got it originally. Someone gave it to me so it just went on the shelf. Now I have a plan to use it. Definatley work better than the Super Victor that I did buy.
X3 on the cant find it when you need it. I had to go buy new nozzles for the sand blaster the other weekend. Sure enough I just found the ones I had. Right where I stuck them so they wouldn't get lost. Thinking is what gets me in trouble! I figure CRS is going to catch up sooner than later. |

Re: Have you ever forgotten some of the parts you have laying around?
We've moved enough that I've got a decent handle on my inventory, sometimes I surprise myself though. A couple of years back I went up to my Dad's horse barn. No horses, just his Ford 8N with a bush hog and some engine blocks, wheels, and other large crap. In the corner was a stack of 4-5 bumpers, all of which I thought were crumpled or rusted. For some reason, I dug through the stack and one caught my eye. It was a 67-72 fleetside chrome bumper and didn't appear to have any damage. I had been rear-ended twice so there were two other bent bumpers just like it. I pulled it out and hosed it off, and I'll be danged...the sticker was still on the back side, bolts had never been tightened on it. It was completely un-used. I polished it and it sold for $100 on Craigslist. Between Dad and I we never figured how/when and why it was in the barn.

I stashed away a collectible piece one time so it would be safe if I was ever robbed. Well, Its confirmed I picked a good hiding spot since I still cant find it.

Re: Have you ever forgotten some of the parts you have laying around?
I can't find the pictures of the girl I dated after my wife left. I swear she found them and did something with them. She was jealous even after she was gone! Oh,this is about truck parts. Well I hid the pics in my shop and unless they are with all the parts I can't find or it never happened.

LOL, I had lost a roll of film once and on it were a couple of goofy shots of my ex GF flashing the camera (very tame stuff). My new wife found it, and as a favor had it developed for me. Her, her sister and her mom picked it up from the developers together, they were going to surprise me, instead they were surprised lol. She gave me the pics ... mad ... I shrugged it off and told her Ill just tear em up an toss em out. So I went out to the garage where the garbage can was and tossed em into a box instead lol. Go forward a lot of years. Second wife going through long forgotten boxes, guess what she found? Gave me the pics ... mad .... I shrugged it off (again) only this time I did tear em up =) ... really! Ok back to truck and car parts, yeah that happens to me all the time. PS I think the negatives are in a box somewhere ... Ill continue my story if they show up lol

When my wife and I first moved in together, I was helping her pack and found 3 old rolls of undeveloped film. She wasn't sure what was on them. One day when she was at work, I took them in to Walmart to get them developed out of curiosity. Turns out they were just of a vacation where she went hiking. Very tame. Nothing nude or anything. But, seeing as she always enjoyed being a little comedian at my expense, I decided to get her back. I sent her a text, and said I got her pictures developed, but that I was disgusted with what was on them. She was really confused, and asked me what was on there. I said "well, they were from college. You were at some frat house party. You must have been drunk, because there were lots of boos. You were totally naked, and getting it on with 4 guys and 2 girls." She didn't believe me, so I pointed out one of the outfits that was being removed from her in one of the pics (of course that never happened, but I was able to tell her in detail about one of the outfits she wore hiking). Now I really had her going and freaking out, because that small bit if truth made her start to believe the rest. She was really starting to squirm, so decided to break the news that I was joking lol. Re: Have you ever forgotten some of the parts you have laying around?
After seeing this thread I went out in the shop and opened a few drawers. Waddayaknow... I found a bunch of engine brackets and bolt ons for all kinds of GM vehicles I've had over the years.

Re: Have you ever forgotten some of the parts you have laying around?
It really sucks when you can't find some part you know you have, then go buy another one, come back and start working on something and find the first part.
