After Market Dash Pad
Anyone else tried one of the aftermarket dash pads in your truck? Spent the better part of 3 hours today struggling with one I bought off that notorious unmentionable auction site ! The studs didnt line up that go down from the top and I had to drill a few of my original dash holes a little larger and then the screw holes along the front were cast wrong in the moulding and they didnt fit right either! Argh! No wonder roginal ones in good shape sale so fast!

Re: After Market Dash Pad
I got mine from gmcpauls. They had a special with them and the arm rests so I got them. Looks good and fits great. OO only come in black though (which for me was fine).

Got the same deal and I'm enjoying the fit. Wish I had thought to order the bolts for the dang arm rests, though.

Re: After Market Dash Pad
We sell an OEM style that is only available in black and they also come neutral so it can be dyed. We also sell a Repro that come in Green,Bright Blue,Saddle, red, and Lt saddle. They are all made by Universal Urethane here in the USA. We have not had any problems

Re: After Market Dash Pad
My ECE/Brothers repop had crappy fit.
My wife got me one through ECE but when it arrived it had was in a Brothers box shipped from ECE. At the time, they were the only ones that had the Sandalwood color. The studs fit ok, but the screws do not fit. It is formed around fiberglass rather than the original metal. The screw holes ripped out when I tired to put the screws in. I'm running it without the screws across the front. I also had to trim a bunch of extra material to get the studs to fit. I was actually told at the time that the Sandalwood wasn't reproduced and that it was going to be NOS. Definately is not NOS.

Re: After Market Dash Pad
The ones we get from universal urethane are the best made in america. You will not find a better manufacturer of reproduction dashes for old chevy trucks. Plus todays dash materials are far superior to any made in the 60 thru 80's by the factory.

Re: After Market Dash Pad
Best $20 you'll ever spend. These thumbwheel ratchets with a long socket make installing the dash pads much easier.

Re: After Market Dash Pad
Well, I hate to be different but, I got the urethane dash pad made by "DashesDirect" from GMCPaul and dont like it. It had a couple of bubbles in the edges and it has large bumps on top where the studs are molded underneath. I should have tried to return it but I had already trimmed the bubbles off when I discovered the bumps after tightening the nuts. I possibly could have overtightened it but I dont think so. I have delt with GMCPaul for years and do not blame him in any way for this. His parts are great quality and this must have been a fluke of some kind.
